We're heading to an auction tomorrow for a couple of specific things (old Corticelli spool cabinets, original Mountain Dew tin sign---from back when the hillbilly was the advert logo) and we found this will be sold then:

Don't know why, but I want it.....just don't know what the heck I'd do with it. Be an interesting room divider.

The wood is beautiful. It looks like it should go in a finished basement game room.

Saw one turned into an aquarium on TV. Not my thing, but I do love the old wood.

That'd be cool, but it'd destroy any value the booth has right now. And the wood looks to be exquisite, all oak from what I was told.

This. Don't destroy an interesting antique for the sake of turning it into a pop cultural icon.

Agreed. It's gorgeous and would look awesome just sitting in the corner with the interior light on.

As to value, it looks like the piece has been refinished, so it might not actually be that attractive to a collector.

I'd probably mess with it, turn it into a wardrobe for a guest room or something...

Maybe you can rip out the old phone in there and replace it with a blue-tooth enabled cordless handset?

You could turn it into a time machine and travel back in time to gather righteous dudes for use in your end of the year project. Just an idea.

Interesting suggestions, all. The Tardis conversion was my first thought, too, but I don't think it's viable.

Of course, this presumes I obtain the booth in the first place. One can never tell about an auction.

Looks like one of those booths from a game show where a gob of money goes whirling around in a cyclone.

Now there's an idea. ;)

But you're right...almost looks like those cash booths you sometimes see.

Well, as I've only seen it in pictures so far, it may well have been. But, there is this still intact on it:

So, even if "restored", that's there. But since that is there, it should be fairly easy to recognize. Given the label is intact & the fan pictured below hasn't apparently been molested, I'm gambling that it's original. I would expect this booth to have been installed in a hotel or drug store.

Another shot of the interior lit:

And I'm seriously considering doing what you suggest....place it and light it.
