I'd leave it as-is, and just use it as a Cool Thing®. I'd love to have an old phone booth.

Does pulse dial still work with the network? I haven't had a land line in over 10 years, but I'd be tempted to get one just to make the phone functional. There might be cool old coins in the coinbox too. So much potential...

Think that's what I'm about to do.....but naturally, the cost has to be determined. $400 or so is going to be scratching the upper limit for it.

Yeah given those pics it doesn't actually look to have been refinished. Nice find!

Thanks! Now onward to the auction. Just wonder how much it'll go for. And I really am leaning towards it being in original condition.

I do believe pulse still works, if I'm not mistaken. Could very well be wrong, tho.

buy it OP, it looks freaking amazing. Not everything needs to have a purpose, some things are just to awesome to pass up eventhough we don't have a use for them.

although I'd personally hang a sign on it that says "fapinet" and then sit inside it all day while fapping furiously and stroking dat wood :awe:

Turn it into a confessional and stream it.

That's actually an excellent idea, sell it as a confessional booth that's mike'd up but the person doesn't know it, then pay hot babes to "confess" their sins, photoshop it so it looks like it's in a church, people would gobble this up and pay for it..

looks cool but it would be a waste of space imho.
But since americans live in huge shoeboxes and never go on holiday, go ahead and buy it.

Cool or not, it's here............

Now for the unintended consequences. The damned thing weighs north of 250#. It took 4 burly guys to get it into the trailer. Neither my wife nor myself can really move it much...so now to go find some strong backs to help get it into the house.

Anyway, also got a few other things.....an old Chevron gas button sign, an old marine dealer Mercury outboard sign, an old Atlas auto parts clock, two of the three spool cabinets that were there, the three section barrister bookcase by Hale, and an old brass lighted railroad track/car sign.

Was a good evening, just wish it'd been a shorter auction. Didn't get home until almost 1AM. C'est la vie.

We did find out a little history about the booth. Apparently, it spent its whole life as a customer use booth at the Lagrange, GA, phone company. Customers would dial a number on the posted list, as seen in the pic on post #25, to contact whatever person/dept. in the phone co. they needed to talk with.

Oh, and that pink phone was not included. And actually no wall phone was ever hung in the booth, rather a desk type phone sat on the shelf. No mounting holes, etc., were anywhere on any wall. Best idea I can come up with about how it was arranged.

I know it's "useless", but you only live once and what the heck....tired of only buying useful crap. Was about time we indulged. And after having seen the last one that sold bring $1400, what we paid was "reasonable".

That looks like a robot penis in the corner. be honest you bought it just for the robot penis. On Monday we'll see the rest of the box on the curb for the garbage man. Minus a robot penis.

Damn! Been found out!

But seriously, have really never seen that fan anywhere in the last decade or so, at least not anywhere accessible to me, anyway.
