ATX power supply not made in China

I'm trying very hard to boycott Chinese-made goods for practical, political, and humanitarian reasons. However, the Chinese-made ATX power supply on my computer has died. I would like to replace it with one not made in China, but my Internet searches are inconclusive at best, and a scrutiny of the whole power supply aisle at Micro Center suggests that every power supply in the world is made in China. I'm willing to go to $200, maybe even $250 to put my money where my mouth is, but it just seems that my hope is futile. Does anyone know of a power supply not made in China? Taiwan and Japan are fine-- just not China.

Good luck with that. I'm VERY anti-Chinese in my purchases, but have accepted the fact that nothing electronics-related is made anywhere else.

Sometimes you just have to grin and bear it.

To support the increasing demand, Sea Sonic's production site has expanded gradually. In 1994, our first China factory joined to contribute production. Soonly , China factory conducts our major production. Our China factory locates at Dongguan City , 2 hours distance from Hong Kong. The total capacity of the factory per month is 850,000 pieces per; according to our business increase, our factory is keeping extending. There are now many more production lines and facilities for our extending business coverage.

If you want the best, you buy made-in-China... Sorry mate :/

Taiwan is a province OF China. 😵

Build it Yourself. Im serious. Its the only way its going to happen, but even then you will be hard pressed to find all the components not made in china.

According to the UN... Yes

yah because organizations determine countries, not countries themselves.

I dont get all the Chinese hate with products, who cares if its made in china. Like if its made in the USA its going to be better? What, the American citizen magically becomes non-corrupt/better government/ etc? lol

Does Taiwan pay taxes to Chinese central government? If so, then boycotting China = boycotting Taiwan.

Let me see, Taiwan's been an independent government for over 50 years. The UN ..
The Republic of China on Taiwan is actually 4 years younger than the United Nations... It's functionally a separate state and certainly doesn't pay any sort of taxes to the mainland, to put it mildly, but the political status of Taiwan is quirky enough that it actually has its own, long Wikipedia page with that exact name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_status_of_Taiwan

mainlanders will tell you they are part of china, taiwanese will say they are independant, external orgs will say whatever they say et cetera...a bit off topic, but i can definitely see why taiwanese want to continue being independant 😛

on topic, may i ask your reasons for not buying chinese-made goods? i cant imagine it being economically feasible to manufacture in developed nations, so im guessing its going to be a developing/3rd world nation regardless?

One, whose fault is that? And two, what alternative do you propose, if said developed nation doesn't possess an abundance of natural resources -- creating wealth by taking out one another's garbage? Raising taxes on evil rich people?

Think China is going to quit making stuff now that they're sitting on all of the marbles, like America stupidly did?

Agree 😡

Now time to move the thread.

i guess its the fault of the developed people for demanding a higher standard of living? i dont have any alternatives to propose, im perfectly fine with the current situation. i sure as fuck wouldnt want to be purchasing australian power supplies, created by australians on australian wages

Back on topic...

Ever since Enermax bought Impervio, a company that manufactured in Taiwan, two years ago, all but one brand of PC PSU's are being built in China.

The one brand that's not built in China is Zippy Emacs. They're sold through Athena Power in the U.S.
