It's the same one that Overstock.com is offering, and works quite well with a Celeron II 633@950 and an MSI Master sloket. (Alike, save for the fact that Overstock.com's come with cables, which this one apparently does not.)

Here's the original thread on these boards, also known as the MP440BX. It has the pin-out diagram for the board, as well as links to bios updates, etc.

So, does this have a 66/100MHz FSB adjustment jumper, or can you set it in the BIOS? Or does one have to tape a pin to run a Celeron @ 100 MHz FSB?

Usually you use a Slocket that lets you put a Celeron 2 in the Slot 1. The slocket has voltage adjustments (just make sure you get a newer slocket that says it supports coppermine, etc).

EDIT: oh yeah, the slocket should also have a jumper that lets you set 66/100 Mhz FSB.

A slocket doesn't help me much if I have an old slot 1 laying around... :p

So, does this motherboard allow for forcing a 100 MHz FSB?

I don't think any Intel mainboard will let you overclock slot 1 Celeron chips. Even if you can force the bus speed to 100MHz, you probably won't be able to tweak the core voltage any higher than 2.0 standard.

I picked one of these up from Computer Geeks. It is DOA. After about a week of e-mails back and forth, I'm sending it back for a refund. After the wasted shipping cost, both to me and back, I'll walk away less about $16.00 and still looking for a board. No more reman boards for me!

Here's a warning about compgeeks. The power supply on my g/f's computer stopped working last year, so we sent it in in November. I'd call every couple weeks, and they kept saying it would be sent out. One time they even said it was already sent out. Finally, this past week, they said they were out of the item, but they offered to credit the account $15. I kept telling them to just send me ANY ATX power supply, but they said they'd credit the account and I could talk to their sales department about buying a new power supply through them. I wasn't too happy, but the lady said she'd send an email the next day about what they could do. 2 days pass with no email, so I finally call in and they said "Oh, we decided to credit your account, as you agreed". Man, was I pissed off. I kept saying there's no way I can get a replacement for $15. The cheapest on pricewatch is $9 + $15 for shipping. I was pretty busy at work and had some meetings to go to, so couldn't sit around arguing with them. Well, had my g/f check her credit card and there isn't a credit on it. Arggghhh... gotta call them back later this week to see what's up. Hell, with all this time wasted, I've paid for a new powersupply many times over. At this point, it's a matter of principle. :)

Soooo.... check out their rating on resellerratings.com. They're listed under:

Computer Geeks Discount Outlet

Everyone seems happy with the prices, but they have a crappy rating for RMA-type stuff. Wish I'd checked this out before I told her to order the system. Heck, I ordered some of their stuff (including a 400-watt power supply) for one of our work servers about a year ago, but I guess the warranty should be expired, so I won't have to worry about RMA'ing it if it fails. :)

Ive RMA'd a few thing with compgeeks and had no problems, been buying from them a long time. Wal-Mart is the best, buy from their web site, and return to local store!

They are horrible when it comes to customer service. I have been trying to get the cdrom replaced in one of their bare bones Geek Kits since Thanks Giving. They never answer my emails and their phone is always busy. I did get them to pay for the return shipping on the cdrom. Now if they would only send me one back.

I've always had good experiences with them; I probably purchase more parts from these folks than any other vendor. they've even replaced stuff for me that was out of warranty, quickly and with no hassle.

Are you kidding me?! This thing is REFURBISHED. You're going to buy a refurbished motherboard? Want to see your Mac (err, PC) go up in flames, short-circuiting all your USB floppy drives and translucent scanners? be my guest.

Just placed an order through BorderFree.com to have one sent to me here in Canada. Came to a total of $58.36 Canadian Dollars after exchange rate, taxes & shipping. Still a hell of a lot better deal than anything you can find around here!

I want to point out that I have been purchasing from geeks about a year now, no customer service, what you receive in the first box is all you get.
but today marks the first time CS even answered my email, said they were moving and would get back to me, maybe they are taking baby steps at improving after sales support as two cases I received with two additional power supplies had crushed grills on their front. This could be the start of something big. hoho:Q

I've purchased a powersupply that was defective, but I didn't want to bother with CompGeeks CSs, so I took out the fan of the power supply and called it a crappy deal on a crappy fan... hey, better than nothing, right?

I got TWO of the WS440BX boards from Overstock. It has a Gateway logo in bios on boot up, Intel made for Gateway OEM. They are decent. I've had problems with the IDE interface on CD-ROM not liking my Staples Memorex 48x CD-ROM, other than that... decent board.

$40 with free shipping, so about the same deal (and the one I ordered from Overstock last Friday shipped in one day, latetly CompuGeeks has been sucky on how long they take to drop it in the mail).

I put on a MSI v2.3 slocket and got a Celeron 633 to run at 950 on one of the WS440BX boards (I previously confirmed the Celeron's overclock capability on a Asus P3V4X I have).

Decent board. I will likely throw in a Promise Ultra66 PCI IDE controller to get around the problems with my Memorex CD-ROM drives. I use this system to watch VCD / MPEG-4 movies... (Celeron 950 is great for this under Windows 2000)... so the problem with the disk controller is a pain. Sometimes I put in a disc and Win2K pops upa message saying the CD-ROM was REMOVED from the system! The CD-ROM drive works fine on another motherboard I have... so clearly the IDE controller.
