ATT's next big android phone - Samsung Infuse?

I have been using a captivate since last July, and have been generally happy with it. I have it OCed and I'm running serendipity.

My dad needs a new phone, and I planned on giving him this one and getting myself a new phone, but I almost wanna wait a month or two, since it seems like the phones that are out now arent that much of an upgrade from my current phone.

The Atrix has a locked down bootloader, and after playing with it for about 20 mins in the store I wasn't all that impressed.

The Inspire looked pretty decent. The screen was nice, and it is a TINY bit faster than my captivate, but i dont think I'd waste an upgrade on it.

There are two phones I'm eyeing that should be coming out soon: the Samsung infuse and the LG Thrill.

Right now the Infuse looks pretty awesome, but I'm worried about getting another phone with a broken GPS - as its made by samsung, and I've heard the GPS doesnt even work on the Nexus S, which makes me think samsung doesnt really give a shit about having GPS in their phones (among other things samsung doesnt care about).

I havent heard much about the Thrill, except that its going to have 3d, which why anyone would want a 3d phone is beyond me, but if the rest of the specs are good I would consider. How is LG as a phone maker?

I probably will end up getting the Infuse, but would like to know what everyone else thinks. I also am wondering how the Infuses 1.2GHz processor compares to the dual core cpu in the atrix.

I'd stay away from the LG Thrill, once you are used to the pure blacks of the SAMOLED you can't just go to an IPS panel and look at the backlight bleeding.
I've bought a G2X and returned it, the thing was fast, nice and snappy but the screen is just average plus the fact that tmo messed their spec sheet and i could only get 2G on AT&T.
I think the LG thrill is just like the G2X but a bit bigger. I don't think you'd be happy with the screen.
Having said that the infuse is just an oced captivate with a bigger screen, if you just read emails, txt and call the phone is fine but if you want something faster then the infuse is definitly not your phone, specially when there are a wide selection of DC phones in the current market.
I would wait for the SGS2, i don't know what HTC has, but probably i will never own another HTC after the nexus one, mytouch 4g fiascos.

Out of all the android phone manufacturers, i would probably consider them the best. Good phones that are modifiable, they stand behind their phones and give the updates they promise (not sure what happened with the mytouch), and have awesome hardware/software (sense).

About dual core phones: what else is out for ATT besides the atrix? And what else is coming out soon?

I put HTC down more on the hardware side because i like to fix phones as hobby, i have fixed samsung, htc, iphone 3/4 and some others and i can say that HTC is the worst out of all. The pieces of plastic does not fit snug and combining metal with plastic is a great idea but HTC's implementation is not the best. They use the double sided tape, glue and tape to put their phones together. For instance the HTC inspire uses only 6 screws to hold it together.
I have had a nexus one the power button went out 3 times now out of warranty but i still have it, the touch screen is fubar on the n1, speaker just sucks.
Mt4 creaking sounds around the silver bezel, bad speakers, front face camera not centered and dust.
HD2 also a hit or miss, made in Taiwan are the best with the yellow reset button the rest from shenzen and shanghai have reliability problems.
The list goes on and on, people put htc on a pedestal because a lot of people assume weight = quality but if you take them apart and see for yourself you'd realize HTC's molding process is less precise than other smartphone manufacturers like samsung, LG.

i have an Inspire and generally like it except for the crappy battery life. it's faster than an iphone 4. i looked at the Atrix but it had some bad reviews on android central. yes it's dual core but people complained about the screen and motoblur. and holding them together i like my huge screen which makes the atrix look tiny.

coming from a 3GS the big screen makes it easier to read and navigate on it

got mine for $20 from Costco. it's $50 now for new subscribers and $80 for existing customers

totally forgot about the galaxy S2. It looks awesome, but I just have no idea when it is going to be released.

While searching, I also came across the HTC Sensation, which looks to be a competitor too, just not sure if it will be as good as the S2.

I know its out in Europe already, so hopefully its not too far off :/

Lol, why do people say these things like it's a fact? Screen tech is a preference, some prefer amoled and some ips.

and some prefer using regular flip phones over smart phones. In this case AMOLED is without a doubt better than IPS. I would go as far as to say its a fact.

AMOLED in the N1 was crap, SAMOLED in the galaxy s series is pretty good, and SAMOLED PLUS i can only imagine how much better it can be. The IPS is an old technology, even LG who used to make top IPS panels didn't get it right, look at the massive bleeding the LG G2X phones have.

I would say SAMOLED is a superior technology no matter how you put it. The only reason the iphone doesn't have one is because samsung didn't have enough production to satisfy all demands.

White doesn't look blue, i've had about 15 galaxy S gone through my hands and only a few looked smurf blue others are just fine.
