It has been my experience that the majority of smokers seem to think that its ok to litter as they please. I used to smoke clove cigarettes on occassion and I made it a point to dispose of the butts and ashes properly. Thankfully smoking is on the decline and since cloves are now illegal in America thanks to some stupid legislation lobbied for by Big Tobacco, I will probably never smoke again.

Ya, the paper and tobacco will dissolve, but that filter will take a long time. Plus it's disgusting. Lots of people litter and it's a filthy habit. I don't think smokers think of their cig butts as litter though.

Depends on what the filter is made of, mine use pure cotton.

Either way, littering is bad but so are generalizations when applied to an unknown individual.
