I just purchased a MSI K7T Pro 2-A and a Thunderbird 900 and need setup help.

Questions:
1. What slots are shared on this board?
2. How can I maually assign IRQs to each slot? (I can do this on my CUSL2)
3. What's the best config for my add-in cards?
-ATI AIW Radeon AGP (AGP slot of course)
-Adaptec 2040AU SCSI card
-Soundblaster Live!Platinum 5.1 w/Livedrive IR
-3Com 3C905B-TX NIC
-Pinnacle Sys IEEE 1394 Firewire card
-Promise Fastrack 100 (Don't have yet, still considering)
4. Should I of just stuck with my Intel system? I really don't want to. I want to be converted!

I really want to make this work but I'm a little skeptical. I successfully had all the cards, with the exception of the Promise RAID controller on my Intel based system. PLEASE AMD vets lead me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Ron

you have so many cards i would just stick them in there in the order you want too. i haven't heard of people haveing irq conflicts with this board. you should be fine.

I generally don't use the PCI slot directly underneath the AGP, and also the last PCI slot before the ISA slot if you have one...

I agree with RDSport323. The AGP and the first PCI slot are shared so stay away from using them both if you can. However if you do use them both use the PCI slot for one of teh "lesser used" cards that should help.

As far as I know there haven't been substantial issues with the last PCI slot. Other than that the other main conflict is with the onboard sound and the soundblaster cards, make sure to totally disable the onboard sound in the bios, it's in two different categories Advanced Chipset and Intergreated Peripherals (I think).

That should be it. oh yeah make sure your use bios 2.2 it seems to have the fewest bugs so far (besides the initial bios but that one is slower).

Have fun!

I have a Duron800@918, 256 MB ram, fastrack66, Radeon 32DDR, Soundblaster live Plat 5.1, a cheapo ethernet card and the latest via 4in1s.

I ran into HUGE problems trying to install win98. I had to move the fastrack66 into PCI slot 1 (right under the AGP slot) and I assigned interrupts to each of the pins. I have found that order does matter for the components.

Also, I had to flash the fastrack66 bios to the lastest version (have done for all my kit).

One nice thing, win2k installed like a dream after getting win98 on.

Kevin.

P.S. The raid 0 is sweet on this system :)

No ISA slot on this board.

The Pro2/2A series can be special-ordered with an ISA slot.

Why would you use an ISA slot these days ?
Trow your ISA-cards away, out of the window !!
You buy all that new sh** and still need an ISA-slot ?
Is it me, or is this insane ?
