Attn Homeowners: Gas & Electric Bills

I have a nice little ranch, 1500SF. Just blew in about 16" of insulation into the attic.

I live in Upstate NY, keep the thermostat at 70 degrees most of the time.

Last months heat & electric = $189.00

Not too bad.......

What does everyone else pay?

Sacramento CA 1900SF house Gas and Electric for Feb = $78.65
We dont even have our thermo on..the house stays about 67-72 pretty much all the time

Elec and gas can go as high as 300/month in Janurary. I pay about 140/month on the budget billing plan.

Electric (my heat is electric) - 60 dollars
IIRC - my house is 1600 SQ FT. And it's just me, so my bills aren't that much 🙂

1600SF house in SE Wisconsin

Winter = $95 - $110 / month
Summer = $60 - $75 / Month

We have AC in the summer, but we are so close to Lake Michigan, that we can usually get a good breeze through the house, so we don't need it unless it's 90'F + and no wind.

this month it was 120 for elec and 50 for gas

used to be cheaper before i had 3 computers running all the time...and i need to remember to turn of my reciever and stuff...that would probably help

🙁

edit:
I rent the house.

Umm is that a huuuuuge house? If not you must have an R-factor of 1 for insulation 😉

Note, my furnace is about 22 years old so once I replace that with an energy efficient one, my bills will hopefully go down.

I just bought this house in Dec, new home owner here so I'm slowly catching on.......

Smart move! The technology difference in 20+ years is termendous. The new furnace will pay for it's self.

Live in minnesota

Gas bill is on budget helper, has been bouncing between 50 and 70$ a month.

Electric is in the 60$ range during the cooler months, spikes to about 100$ for the hot months from the central air.

It's big. I'd say 2300sqft finished and another 600 sqft unfinished + 2 car garage and probably a 400 sqft attic.
Combine this with old-ass insulation and you get ---> 🙁
Luckily I share with 3 friends.

>$600/month in winter

3500sf in Northern NJ

We have had a lot of work done on the house and doors and wondows always seem to be open - especially since we had 40 windows replaced...

Cincinnati, Ohio

2500SQFT..
We kept the temp around 72 degrees most of the time..

Gas+Electric=$180 in January and same in Febuary..

It's worth getting the programmable thermostat..

During the day, it does down to 60 and goes up to 72 during the evenings and weekends

LI, NY ...

gas (it's actually oil) during winter = $175/mo. otherwise $200 total would last the rest of 9 months.
electric is $70/mo.
