I see some people getting 30-34C idle temps on a Winnie 3000+ with stock cooling. Yet I get 36-39C on mine, using AS5. At stock speed I get that, OCed to 2250mhz I get about 40C.

What am I doing wrong? Could it be bad case temps affecting the CPU? It's a standard ATX case with no extra fans. see sig for specs.

CPU - 3500+ at 2.6GHz (10x260), Vcore = 1.54V
Temps - 39C, 53C
HSF - Thermalright XP-90 + Vantec Stealth
thermal grease - Stuff that came with Thermalright

CPU- Winchester 3000+
Temps - 40C, 65C (Load temp is wrong and is probably 10C lower)
HSF - Zalman 7000B
Grease - AS5

CPU: winchester 3000+ 939
speed: 2430 (9x270)@1.424v
temps: idle = 40C load = 51C
hsf: stock
thermal grease: stock

To check load temps just run something that pegs your CPU constantly at 100%... a popular choice is a distributed computing project like Folding@Home, FindADrug, etc. You could also try a "burn-in" program like Prime95. Just run either of these programs for 10 minutes or so and see how much your temps rise.

My specs:

CPU: FX-51 @ 2.4 GHz, 1.6 vcore
Temps: 45 idle, 53 load
HSF: Waterblock
Thermal grease: generic

I'm currently debating whether to switch to AS5... I saw Antec "Formula5" at the store, I've heard it's just as good...

Winchester 3000+ @ 2.5GHz (1.45V)
Zalman CNPS 7000A w\ Arctic Alumina
41C load, no idea about idle (runs Folding@Home 24\7)

CPU - 3200+ at 2.5GHz (10x250), Vcore = 1.5V
Temps - 40C, 50C
HSF - Swiftech MCX-64V
Thermal grease - Arctic Silver 5

CPU = 3000+ at 2160MHz (270x8) Vcore = 1.4
Temps = Cold
HSF = Stock
Themal Grease = AS3

POS Week 50-51 core? Yep. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

why did you use 8x multiplier, wont 10x give u more overclock?
