An easy way to estimate how much a plywood will weigh is to figure about 25 lbs. per 1/4 in. of thickness.

One 4'x8' sheet of 1/4" plywood will weigh about 25 lbs
One 4'x8' sheet of 1/2" plywood will weigh about 50 lbs
One 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" plywood will weigh about 75 lbs
One 4'x8' sheet of 1" plywood will weigh about 100 lbs

That means, if you decided to go with 1" tongue and groove, you will be adding a lot of weight!

Not saying you can't do it, or that others don't do it, but it is something to consider.

Go with as thick as you possibly can for your budget. I had some 3/8 in mine first, not nearly thick enough. I tried a sheet of 1/2 and ended up going with 5/8 because the 3/4 cost too much. Ideally I should have spent the extra and got the 3/4.
