im not out to bash Mcafee, but i figured i should let everyone know

here is what i saw

"Spyware use is so ingrained into computing, anti-virus manufacturers like McAfee Corp. are creating loopholes in their software that ignore FBI Spyware. "

one response was

" Now anyone can craft their virii to look like the FBI's brood and avoid detection alltogether."

Personally I think that's fine *IF* they are working with the FBI to properly determine how their software works so that it only doesnt detect THAT software...

At least one antivirus software company, McAfee Corp., contacted the FBI on Wednesday to ensure its software wouldn't inadvertently detect the bureau's snooping software and alert a criminal suspect.'

If you aren't breaking the law then the FBI probably won't have their spyware program on your computer so what are you worried about? Anyhow, that's what actual spyware removers are for.

Heh, I stopped using mcafee more than 4 years ago when their then-current anti virus software was real crap.

Well sure...... everyone knows the FBI would NEVER spy on anyone without a good and legal reason...😀

Guess it went over your head :disgust:

If the FBI goes to that much trouble to put spyware on my PC they probably will be coming soon anyway. 😛

Still, it's disturbing that backdoors are being built in for the gov, but, it's also not likely to be an issue unless you are doing something you shouldn't anyway, in which case you are not likely to get any support for that invasion of privacy. I certainly don't agree with that policy, but, that is the way things are these days.

but again, what if some one makes spyware or a virus to look like what ever the FBI has?

then the anti-virus doesn't pick it up

im guessing it would only be a matter of time before somthing like that happened, but of course a bunch of computers would get raped hardcore before anyone would do anything about it
