Looking for a cheap set of bikes for me and the wife. We looked at a dealer here in texas Bicycles inc. and found a couple of Trek bikes for a little over $700 for both out the door. Is there any place online or in the DFW area thats good for buying bicycles? Does anyone have experience with Trek bikes? Thanks

For cheap just go to Walmart, Academy, Target, Sports Authority, etc.

Those bikes are such crap, your just wasting your money. Trek makes good bikes, and they are somewhat inexpensive.

Sounds like a good deal to me!

Agree

If you are not the type who is athletic and is going to really push your personal limits on a inexpensive bicycle then they will be safe.

Tech has changed so that the cheaper ones are safer than they used to be but many department store bikes are still unsafe in my opinion.

Treks from a bike shop for that price sounds like a good idea since they will be warrantied and get some free service too.

I prefer to buy a used bike that has a higher level of components that is still in good condition

I would rather ride 20 year old ultegra than alivio or tiagra or whatever the lowest levels of parts are nowadays

Give CL a try too

sure, if his wife is going to bomb down mountain roads at super speed u'd have a point. for regular casual riding, they do just fine, at a fraction of the price. unless you can garrantee that premium bike isn't being made in china anyways, theres no point paying the premium for most folks. its a luxury

Bicycles Inc. is fine, my brother bought a trek from them a couple years ago - the one off granbury rd. They have a flyer every so often with good deals - like 20% off.
