ATTENTION: 7800 GTX Owners....

Im planning a purchase for a 7800 GTX. ive read about alot of problems with the GT...bad ram and artifacting, needing a bios flash or RMA.

Im trying to get an idea if the GTX has similar problems, or if it is much more stable.

If you own an Evga GTX or other brand, Please let me know which one, and your experience with it.

IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THIS WILL REALLY HELP MY FINAL DECISION.

THANKS GUYS.

I've owned the GTX and GTX KO. Both of them were excellent, artifact free and stable.

Ive had artifacting and stuttering in certain games when in other games they run great.
Kind of dissapointed. I have an evga gt btw. I might stepup to a gtx 512 and hopefully it wont
have these problems. The new bios did fix the artifacting somewhat. But cs stutters and freezes.

I don't have one yet but will be getting a 7800GTX KO tomorrow, so I can get back to you then. According to the reviews I've read though, the idea I get is that some GTs work well but many don't. It may be compatability issues or just crappy manufacturing, I don't really know, but the GTX's seem to have much better customer feedback in terms of reliability. Like really good. Especially the KO's, I was looking at a list of 50+ reviews and couldn't find a single one that said they had problems with the card. Then again the KO costs almost $600 so that's to be expected.

if you're planning on purchasing the gtx, why do you care if the gt is stable?

I think he's asking if the GTX is more stable.

i dont have an eVGA but i have 2 MSI 7800gtx's in sli and they are perfect in everyway shape and form, only probs ive ever had have been with my SLi motherboards bios

however i built a system for my girlfriends dad with a BFG 7800GT OC and it artifacted like mad from the second i turned it on(we got the card at compusa,.. becasue we needed it right away and he was going back home in a state away),..so we took it back and exchanged it and the second one was perfectly fine,...so it was definatly the card,.and the guy that did the return had the b@lls to say"ok now dont fry this one too ok",....after the genious previously said "you do know this card needs a pci-express slot to work right?" i just wanted to grab the kid, pull him over the counter and slap the piss out of the lil sh!t,...lol..instead i just said,.."yeah takein a hammer and pounding it into the agp slot didnt seem to work".....i laughed but he gave the crustiest look,...lol,...although not the first time ive had to return a piece of crap back to compusa

never had one piece bad ordering from newegg.com or any other e-tailor,....every other item is defective from compusa in my experience with thier hardware

datamestonic...Definately keep us informed on your KO. Where did you get it by the way. Its tough to find em in stock.

alimoalem...Yeah, originally, I was gonna go with a 7800 GT. Until I saw the huge amount of people with trouble. Some guys have had good luck with their GT's, but Im not into Russian Roulette, dont need the headache. Plus, my luck sucks.

GOREGRINDER...Glad to hear the MSI GTX's are runnin good. I thought about the MSI Lite GTX...decent price, but the EVGA warranty is tough to pass on.
Yeah, the kids at CompUSA and BestBuy etc... can be real idiots. Sucks the BFG GT had trouble too. Im really starting to think the GT has a manufacturing problem.

gi0rgi0...I feel for ya man. Maybe step up to the GTX if you can.

OK Guys, Who else has a GTX...Lets hear it

New Egg had it for about 570. I was glad to see that it sunk below 600, which is what it was going for at Monarch. Still way too expensive obviously, but i really wanted this edition so that I could couple it with another one later when the price goes down for SLI.

I just ordered it a few days ago though, and it's already off of their lists.. kind of weird. Especially considering that it wasn't on there a few days before I ordered either. Seems like it was only listed there for a day or two.

I have 2 eVGA 7800GTX's both bought from newegg. Running in SLI. Like was pointed out above, the cards themselves have been great. Just the SLI motherboard bios needed about 30 patches to get issues sorted out.

Edited:Added brand.

are you kidding? you can get the geforce 7800 gtx overclocked for 510 at tigerdirect

The BFG looks pretty nice. But, not clocked as high as the KO, looks like a reference cooler, and warranty isnt as good. The ACS3 Cooling system on the KO kicks the price a little higher I imagine.

Cuular...Which Model EVGAS did you get? Also, are you certain it was the motherboard SLI issues that you had trouble with? The cards themselves run great?

Expanded Question To Include All Brands GTX

Cheesetogo...Did you notice much performance difference between the KO and the other GTX? Do you remember the model number of the regular GTX you have?

eVGA 7800GTX w/ASC3 cooler

why dont you get this?....its 469,..and it has the black ASC3 cooler as the KO,..just overclock it,...i dont see why it wouldnt do 500/1300 like a walk in the park,..because my msi's with a reference heatsink even in SLi will do 499/1300 and still have a 50c/48c idle 63c/61c full load(card1/card2 temps)
