Most four-year schools have an office of study abroad. They have tons of info on different programs. Studying abroad is something I really wish I'd had time to do while I was in school. More Americans need to get out of this country and see more of the world, and combining that experience while getting units is a great idea.

Simply because not too many people speak other languages. And those who do, have probably immigrated to the US, and don't really want to get out.

many us students travel abroad during college, an there is a growing number of american high school students traveling abroad. Traveling abroad is one of the main reasons I picked my college, wpi. Right now I am looking at the possiblies to spend 8 weeks of my last three years (8 weeks per year) here away. I would spend a whole year away, but then theres a language requirement (and I am bad with languages that don't deal with a computer).
