attempting to pick up guitar... pointers?

hello, and stuff

so anyway, i'm sorta learning to play guitar, and i was hoping any connoisseurs out there could give me some tips. so far i'm:
learning chords
screwing around with tablatures online
getting a feel for the thing
developing callouses

i only started a week and a half ago, so i'm obviously not very far along. where should i go from here? thanks

Learn how to properly hold the guitar (proper position of your fingers and hands)
Learn the major and minor chords
Meet some people that already know how to play
Focus on playing Properly, before going for speed. If you go straight for speed, you'll build bad habits that will be more difficult to get rid of later on.

So, just focus on your chords right now. Then move to scales to build finger dexterity. Once you get the basics down properly, you can pretty much teach yourself everything else.
