Different signals. TV comes in on one band, internet the other.

I have 18mbps uverse with 2 HD tv's and phone. We record tv non stop and only watch HD programing. So far everything works great. They ran all new lines to the house and inside the house ran cat5. They also setup wireless for my notebook (which I later turned off and setup my own). I have had the service for 2 months without a single day of downtime on the phone, tv, or internet.
The only problem I have had is with their customer service. I am a avid watcher of MMA fights. We have parties at my house nearly every weekend to watch fights. In Jan. we rented a UFC (which did not have HD for some reason), then the Affliction show and finally tried to rent the last UFC (BJ Penn vs GSP). Only it would not let me rent the fight, saying I had reached my monthly spending limit. It gave a number to call. I called that number and was on hold for 45 minutes. At that point I called Technical support. After 3 tries to get thought he computer system without getting hung up on I finally reached a lady. She told me the other number I was calling was a sales number and only open monday-friday 8-5. I was then placed on hold for 30 minutes while she tried to help me. Eventually she had me reboot my box (which had no effect). Then had me reboot the box again (with no effect) and finally told me I would need to call this number to solve my problem. The number she gave me was the same number she just told me was only open monday-friday. This being a live event on a saturday made her advice no help. At this point I decided to hang up and try again.
45 minutes later I reached another support tech. 72 minutes later he was able to turn on the rental for me and we finaly were able to watch the UFC 30 minutes after it had started. If I have this problem next month I will be keeping the internet and canceling their tv service.
The $$ they have to lay out per customer to provide service is several orders of magnitude more than DSL or cable, it's perfectly understandable (to me) that they refuse service to people with less-than-perfect credit.Originally posted by: CrackRabbit
After trying to get U-verse I would say no fucking way.
My credit isn't the greatest. I fucked up things a few years ago but am back on track now. Brow beat me later on how I am a dumbass.
AT&T flat out REFUSED to let me get service, no extra deposit, no pay in advance, nothing. I ended up having to back out of a reserved apartment because they were the only choice for cable, internet and phone service.
Not to mention that at that time I had an AT&T DSL line in my name at the place I was living.
Also unless you get their FIOS type service the channels are horribly compressed and you will often get artifacts because of it.
So in short. Fuck AT&T.
