Things can be licensed differently for different people.
Just because it has a copyright does not remove the GPL licience, I am sure you are aware of that.
Yes yes yes, but does the actual iso layout constitute a derivitive work? If so, then it must be GPLed, but since kernel modules aren't necessarily a derivitive work, I'm guessing that an iso layout isn't either. 😉
If it isn't it does not have to fall under the GPL. The files on the disk are GPLed, and I'm not saying that someone can take away the right to distribute those. I'm just saying this could be a situation similar to SuSE, who does not distribute ISOs, but you can make your own. And then after they make the official release to the public (instead of retailers and members or whatever), they change the license to allow redistribution to everyone.
There is most likely no issues involved with distributing the iso. And I'm not trying to argue, or berate, or make anyone feel bad. Just discuss. It's one of those licensing issues I find interesting. I don't want to tell anyone to stop distributing it, and don't want to cause any trouble. I think the whole copyright licensing thing is intrigueing. I'd consider taking a class at a college or something on it, if it didn't mean hanging out with potential lawyers. 😛
Anyway I am extremely gratefull for the opportunity to get the distro, I have it up and running and it is pretty nice, a lot better than 9.2 that is for sure.
and this serves as a bump also

I won't be downloading it, but I'm glad the thread is here. 🙂
Maybe we could setup an AT Free software BitTorrent repository or something.
