AT's own Linux ISO server

We need to eat up some bandwith on this server, so Figure I'd keep some ISO's on there. I'll add some more as I get time. Thanks to Devioustrap for giving me the extra gigs and BW to store these. Big thanks to AMDskip and MBony for moving the Mandrake Official ISO's I bought them from premiumlinux.com, but my connection was too slow, so they dl'd and re ul'd them for me

You can get the iso's through here PM me for the PW. We will open it up towards the end of the month if bandwidth is permitting.
Currently we have Fedora Core 1, Mandrake 10 Community, and Mandrake 10 Official, and a 30mb debian sarge iso.

If More than a few people are looking for a certain distro PM me or reply here. Theres always linuxiso.org too, but sometimes hard to find a fast server.

As far as the copyright thing goes when I DL'd it, it never said anything about it being under copyright, I'll send an email off to mandrake and see if theres anything wrong with it.

Demand has died down for the most part since it was released publically. So if you're interested PM me and I'll get you a pw

.

Mandrake 10 official is currently being uploaded to the server by me🙂

CD1 is up, other two up shortly. My upload is like 575 kb/s🙂

not sure how to use your server, when I try to use the "text" link here is just a sample of what I get.
mkisofs 2.01a24 -sort .../16.sort -r -J -hide-rr-moved -nobak -cache-inodes -A Installation CD 1 (x86) -P Mandrakesoft -volset 10-DWDCTY01 -V 10.0-Community-Download-1 -o .../16-10.0.iso -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table .../16 .../16

which link? try rightclick save as for all of them except the mandrake 10 official

Thanks Fiveohhh,
btw, your webserver is sending the files back as type="text/plain". That'd explain why Bleep got all that crap back. Even right clicking and choosing save as tries to save it as a text file, although I suppose that doesn't do any harm. Anyway you can add a content type in your httpd.conf? Like "application/iso" or something?

OK well I switched my browser from Mozella to IE and that fixed my problem, I will wait until tommorrow as your server is getting hammered right now. Thank you for hosting the Mandrake 10.

Ya gotta a problem with that?😀 I needed a domain for that server, and couldn't think of anything else so went with the dog😀

I'll talk to ther server owner and see what the deal is.

Indiana was the name of Indiana Jones' dog. 😀

Is there a different copyright on the iso or something? Or is it covered by the GPL?

Heck! Anyone should know that under GPL that once you have the program is in your possession it is yours to do with what you want. Sell it- give it away-modify it, as Martha said it is a good thing. I never heard of pirating a gpl program.

I'm not disputing that fact, but the actual iso and layout may not be under the same copyright. OpenBSD's benign dictator, Theo de Raadt has the official cd layout copyrighted. So unofficial isos (I guess you could make one for yourself using the same layout, but distributing is a different matter) are required, by copyright law, to use another layout.

I thought that Mandrake may have a similar copyright on the layout or something, which will be relaxed after it has been officially released to the public. That's why I asked.

If there is no copyright license applied to the layout or isos, then you can't distribute them (copyright law). However, if they say "go forth and multiply" then it should be ok.

🙂

Well it must be released somewhere because it is for sale all over the net from links right from Linux.org, $5.00 for the 3 disk set. Just because it has a copyright does not remove the GPL licience, I am sure you are aware of that.
Anyway I am extremely gratefull for the opportunity to get the distro, I have it up and running and it is pretty nice, a lot better than 9.2 that is for sure.

and this serves as a bump also
