That is the most insidious logical fallacy on these boards IMHO. Not all negative feelings can be ascribed to jealousy or insecurity...that's just a super-lame attempt to deflect an argument back onto the instigator. Sometimes hate is related to jealousy, but not always; don't assume unless you have a darn good reason for it!

I don't "hate" very many celebrities...I dislike some of their lifestyles, but that's why I just don't read their magazines or watch their shows. I do hate Paris Hilton.
 
I still don't get why he thinks people hate brad pitt.

Like I said, tom cruise's antics are why people hate him. You don't go out and accuse other celebrities of making up illnesses or jump on a couch like an idiot because you scored a 20 year old without gathering some level of resentment. Any fan of south park should hate cruise because of the crap he pulled with comedy central.
 
Oh Mel Gibson, George Clooney and Bill Paxton need mentioning too. Now when I watch Titanic my preference is more to Bill than Leo. 😱

Mel Gibson playing Porter in Payback was great. A guy that truly did not give a sht. Then again in the Lethal Weapon movies he had the same attitude. I love that kind of attitude in a guy. 🙂
 
I can think of many actors and actresses I don't care for for no good reason though. Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, and any of the Wayans.

thats referred to as filling the shoes of the role
if you don't like it, don't watch movies, for each movie the actor is not acting themselves, thus why its called acting. if you want to see an actor act himself, so spy on him or something. i dont pay to see movies to see someone acting themselves, i wanna see the role they play. johnny depp is great at filling roles. everything from jack sparro to the guy in From Hell to Willy Wonka.. in chocolate factory he was flippin amazing and creepier than hell. jack sparro was a kickass role, and i haven't seen From Hell yet.

now someone who doesn't seem to bring a lot of his roles is Tom Cruise. War of the Worlds... seemed to much like Tom Cruise and not enough not like tom cruise. minority report? good movie but still he couldn't disguise himself enough.
another good actor, kind of upcoming still.. is jake ghylenhall or however ya spell it. he was great in jarhead, filled the role it seemed, and was completely different in day after tomorrow. heard he was good in donnie darko too. haven't seen it yet.
 
The chicas love Matthew McConaughey.

Edit- Oh.. I saw Antonio Banderas on Conan a few weeks ago. He's a really funny guy.
 
In fact, after giving this further thought, I'm pretty sure Tom Cruise is currently the ONLY actor that I would say I hate.

Nonsense. It's called bringing random garbage to a character that is written as a regular human. You can act without adding excessive amounts of silly affectations to the character. In fact, if you do that in acting school my guess is you will get a big fat F. Depp gets away with it because the movies are nearly as ridiculous as his acting.

Depp was fine in From Hell and Sleepy Hollow. It's mostly charlie and C&C music factory as well as pirates. Not that anything depp could have done would make those movies any worse than they already were without the silly acting.
