Can the brains of ATOT shed some help on this situation? and no, no pics 🙂
OK, so my wife had an appointment to get an IUD insert done. I take the day off work and accompany her to the OBGYN's office. The staff at the doctor's office told us that in order to get this done, we had to pay $120 upfront for the procedure, otherwise the doctor won't bother seeing us. Great, ahole, why didn't you tell us this when we booked the appointment??
They said it's our responsibility since insurance only covers 80%. I told them, that's not how it works. I have a $15 copay and they are obligated by contract to see her. After some heated debate, I just got sick of them and left.
I called the insurance company and they said that her 20% deductible for the year was met and we should covered at 100% for any procedures from here on.
I called OB office and told them what our insurance company said. They said they will look into it. I told them don't bother, just make a copy of all of our records since we're done with them. We've been with them for over 5 years too.
Was I in the wrong? I hate dealing with this kind of crap.
Cliffs:
- doctor's appointment
- deductible met for year
- doctor wants deductible, not copay
- left fuming mad
- insurance verified they acted inappropriately
- i ask for a copy of all records
- looking for new doctor
