So I got into an argument with a friend of mine today. She has been telling my that all I listen to is rap and hip hop and I don't have an open enough mind about other music. I feel this is for the most part untrue. She told me to make her a mixtape with a romantic theme to prove her wrong. Keep in mind, she is a just a close friend of mine, but I want to make the tape.

Here are the tracks I have so far (from MY itunes library)

1.Send me an Angel - real life
2. Dream the impossible dream - Andy Williams (I dont know about this one, but I've always loved the song)
3. What a wonderful world - louis armstrong
4. can't take my eyes off of you - Andy williams
5. Layla - clapton
6. Black is Black - los bravos
7. Because the night - 10000 maniacs
8. Time of my life - Bill Medley
9. Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane

Now, I feel that those 7 tracks show that I listen to more than hip hop, but I really want to finish off the cd strong. I want to basically stick some of the older stuff - 90's, 80's and earlier would be great.

PLEASE give me some recommendations. I need about 10 more tracks.

I think "Never Gonna Give You Up" would finish off the tape quite nicely. Youtube if you've never heard the song.

I've heard it one too many times. It's on the "maybe" list simply because it is too obvious of the choice with the cult following.

P.S. I thank you for not rick rolling.

Love songs?

Etta James - At Last
Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald - Dancing Cheek to Cheek
Clapton - Blue Eyes Blue (too bluesy maybe?)
Clapton - Wonderful Tonight (yeah, that'll do it)
Clapton and George Harrison - Something (I think this live version is by far the best of this song)
Sinatra - The Way You Look Tonight
Pretenders - I'll Stand By You
Boyz II Men - On A Bended Knee, Four Seasons of Loneliness, I'll Make Love To You, pick any one of 'em really
All 4 One - I Swear
All 4 One - I Can Love You Like That
Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply
Blessed Union of Souls - I Believe
Blessed Union of Souls - Let Me Be The One
KC and JoJo - All My Life
Ben E King - Stand By Me

There are a quick few with a lot from the 90s. There are a lot others, mostly older stuff, that I could probably think of tho.

I tried to be classy about it. ;)

In any case... you could try some of the boy-band stuff from the later 90s. Backstreet Boys have a LOT of really great singable songs (as someone who karaokes and sings in the shower, I love backstreet boys for the vocals). Even NSYNC has a few.

Here are a few "lovey" songs in addition to ones that Vrolok recommended

Savage Garden - I Knew I Loved You
Backstreet Boys - The One
BB - I Want It That Way
Nsync - This I Promise You
Brian McKnight - Back At One (ps I had absolutely no idea he was black, lol)

Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam f/ Full Force - All Cried Out. If you want 90's Allure's remake featuring 112.

Tracie Spencer - Tender Kisses

Mariah Carey f/ Dru Hill - Beautiful Ones. The original Prince version is gooood too.

Az Yet - Last Night

Mint Condition - Pretty Brown Eyes

Tyrese - Sweet Lady

I know it's not from the period you're looking for, but Robin Thickes Lost Without U is one of the best romantic songs ever.

The fact that you can only find 7 songs, and need our help for 10 more shows that she is indeed correct.

(c)Rap is not even music.

True, and then false.

I say you give her a mixtape recording of a couple going at it for hours... what's more romantic than that?
