A recent one was I was interviewing for jobs and during a call back offer from one of the people i was told about another prospective candidate that was "really, really young, like 24,25" and i showed the maturity of my age. Now i had gone a little scruffy for the interview, but i dont think i look over 30 so the funny thing was, the lady i guess didnt realize, I'm 25.

i don't feel old in the way that some would think "old" to be.
However, it is so weird seeing high school varsity jackets with 2010 on them. and whenever i walk into Hollister, all the kids working there are only like 16.
I feel like an adult and have for a while though. Age has nothing to do with that.

Maybe 19 or so. I worked at McDonald's and there were a bunch of highschool kids working there too. I realized that I had already had several apartments, moved 18 times (literally), dropped out of college, and had several jobs.

Stress will do that to you.

I'm 25 now and I feel about 50, but I wouldn't go back to those teenage/early twenties times for anything.

Yeah I noticed it young, when I was 18 or so. Really felt it when I was 23, now at 24 I realize it daily.

I'm 24... still feel like I'm 16 or 17 but I have a full-time job and bills and whatnot. I think once I have a kid I'll start to feel older, until then naw.

I can still pass as 19 or 20, I don't FEEL any older, but I've noticed that I don't do as well as I used to there. I think part of it is that I've felt a little out of place the older I get. Anyway, I go tonight and I really realize all of a sudden that maybe it's time to let the next generation take hold in the place. I've had my fun, I've done some crazy stuff there, and last week I crossed 'judge a hot body contest' off my life's to do list. I just went there tonight to see how it felt now that I've done pretty much everything I want to do as a very young adult. I felt out of place

I'm sure all of the 'mature' internet ATOT people will tell me that they matured SO much faster, and proclaim 'shens' or whatever you losers do. But I just felt like posting to ask if anyone's had experiences with the same thing. It's like all at once I suddenly realize I'm not 19 or 20 anymore, and that it's not appropriate for me to try to act that age at College Night or things like that anymore. I guess for the last few years I've been struggling with that because I've always realized that's the funnest period of your life and I've always wanted it to last forever, and experience more adventures at that age. But it can't go on forever.
ahhhhhh, our lil baby is all grown up. ;)
actually, just start going to more mature clubs? or drink more. those are the choices.

whatever you do though, no matter what your age, don't forget to have fun and make fun happen. just cause you grow older doesn't mean you shouldn't get wild and crazy from time to time.

There was some sadness at the realization I have to use the phrase "Back when I was in college"

Although I really don't consider myself old, when I counsel new college students on what laptop to buy - I usually have more in common with their parents than the kids

It pretty much smacked me in the face when I went back to college for a professional degree. That was at 24, I'm 27 now. Sitting in class with 18-20 year olds...there was a huge difference. I had a few freshmen friends that I made back when I was a super senior, that were seniors when I went back, so that was pretty cool. My GF is also 4 years younger than me (just turned 23).

So basically, I have a lot of younger friends, yet I still feel a bit different than them. Theyre all trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives, while I've been there, done that. I can only handle so much "getting wasted" now. Some of my friends my age are on a bit of a "time is running out, man!" trip lately...I guess having lots of young friends around can also make you forget you're getting old. :p

I still do pretty much the same things I did when I was 22, I just do them a bit more rationally. I'm still young, but not as young as I used to be. :p

I felt old when playmates started being a decade or more younger than me.

When I was house shopping I took the school district as more of an importance than the availability of high speed broadband.

I was also more recently excited about buying a food processor than I was with buying an electronics gadget.

Other things that make feel like I'm a couple generations out of the loop is when I read the "comments" on sites like youtube and feel like they are speaking a different dialect. Is it cool to talk like that, or have we been secrectly slipping leaded paint chips to the youth of our country?

I realized I can't pull off certain things I used to be able to do when I tried on diamond earrings a couple months ago. Throughout college, I wanted some big diamond studs, but I could never afford them. Then I graduated and started making some money. I decided to buy some fake cz studs just to see how they would look. I tried them on and somethign just wasnt right.

My gf told me I looked like a lesbian. :(

Growing up ain't so bad. Now that you are older, you can go to real bars and have conversations without yelling, breathing a crapload of smoke, and being crammed up against the person next to you.

For me, I knew I was getting old when I started getting very sore from playing softball. Two 1 hour games and I wake up feeling like a truck ran over me, and I'm in decent shape. Another big thing was when people started calling me "Mister" or "Sir."

Oh, FYI, I'm 30.

Same here...

Except mine isn't softball. It's 2 hours of fullcourt basketball. It hurts to walk up the stairs when I get home. My knees just can't take the abuse like they used to.

Oh the few grey strands of hair (I'm 25), parents pushing about marriage, moving out, etc.

Somtimes, I wish I could get those college years back, but then again, I would love to be married in a few years and have kids.. then the fun begins. :)

Your 25 and live with your folks? Dude, get a life.

at around 24. Late 20s was staring me in the face and I realized age is just a negative from that point. Maturity had been there for a while, but this age thing being a number... make it go away.

Im 24 and I live with my parents. My girlfriend is almost 26 and she lives with her parents. We both have college degrees, good jobs, I'm working towards my CPA, and she has her masters and is working towards a doctorate. Sure, we could move out together now, but we plan on gettinng married next year. I am not wasting money on rent; I'd rather buy a house when I get married. So whats the problem again with living at home to save money?

I think it was the day I realized that my wife and children depended on me providing for their well being. Oddly enough, that realization didn't come until well after my first child was born. It came one day when I almost quit my job.

I felt old when i stopped being able to do all night sessions of Blackjack at AC, win, drive home while the sun was coming up, take a quick nap and go about the rest of my day. Now an all night session takes me two days to recover from.... I'm 26 :(

My days sitting in front of the computer watching anime and playing video games with her are long past gone. We haven't done that in like 3 years, we're just out of it now. Hell, I find myself lacking interest in upgrading my computer here on Anandtech day by day when all I find myself playing on the PC anymore or games that I could of ran 4 years ago.

Nail in the coffin is when we got excited looking at floor tiles.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one Lola....

Plus working the job I work....makes me feel ALOT older than I really am.

Actually I still get the question from some of my patients, "Are you old enough to be an RN??"

It's kinda embarrassing yet makes me proud at the same time considering I just turned 22 a month ago. :p

When I stopped staying up past eleven so my work day wouldn't suck. At the same time, I'm only 27....I certainly don't feel "old".

Ha!

That was a sign for my wife and I. It would be a Saturday night and we would crawl into bed around 10:30. We'd look at each other and go "God we're getting old!". And then we'd wake up and be out of bed before 8:00 on a Sunday and say the same thing.

Last year when i slammed on my knee on a half-pipe after bailing from a backside air.
When I was younger the pain would go away the next day. well , the pain stayed for over a couple of weeks.
