Update 2: Come on, we still need one more. There's a gotta be one more Dip player here.

Update - Never mind the week-long deadlines. The guy who was going to play who was so busy has decided to simply bow out instead. So we'll have normal timings, 3 days for moves, 1 day for everything else, no orders due on weekends. So right now the list looks like:

Me
A friend of mine
A friend of my friend
Mellman
TheStu
A5

Just one more person and we're ready to go. Again, all we really ask is that you communicate regularly, don't drop out, and know the basics of the game. I'm also thinking I'm going to update this thread with the moves, Diplomacy is an awesome spectator sport.

Looking for 3 players for online game of Diplomacy. We'll be playing on the DP Judge, which is exactly like playing the board game. There's an auto-updating map to show people's positions, and lots of other features that make it incredibly easy and intuitive to use.

Any skill level player is welcome to play, however we do ask that you already know how to play Diplomacy, as teaching the game from scratch takes a long time and we'd like to get started as soon as possible. There will be 1 week between move deadlines, and 1 day between everything else (retreats, builds, etc..). We'd like players who are talkative and Diplom a lot, and people who obviously won't drop out 2 years in.

Reply here if you're interested, like I said, we just need 3 players. If you're not already registed on the DP Judge I'll send a quick guide on how to do it, it takes like 5 minutes. Hopefully there's a few good players here on ATOT, hope to hear from a few of you soon. :)

:Q I don't know the game but I guess I don't want to start now if one game takes years.

I'd play - but a week for a turn is a loooong time....hm

Aw c'mon, it'd still be fun. The week-long deadline is to avoid people being late when people are busy or whatever. If everyone has their orders in we can always process them early.

Wow, I used to play this game with my dad and brother, but it takes hours on end to complete in real time... Add in a couple days per turn and that's one loonnggg game. I might ask my dad if he wants to play, anyway, though.

Seems like a lot of fun, but I'm going to be out of the country for two months with probably no internet access. :(

No arguments here. Online Diplomacy takes a LONG time to play. It takes like 5 minutes a day to answer emails from other countries/type in your moves though, so that's not really a bad thing. And it's unbelievably fun

This is an example of wha the online map looks like, by the way. It auto-updates after every move goes through to show current positions. I was Turkey in this game, but then France stopped sending in moves. I was doing well, too :(

It's easy to learn but it takes a few games before you pick up the finer points. We just need one more, who's it gonna be folks?

The game is set up and everyone's been emailed with instructions for how to join. Once everyone is in, the game automatically starts.

Since nobody's moved yet, here's everyone's starting positions. I'll post the update map after every move so the ATOT peanut gallery can chime in :)

I'd love to play if I had more time (I've played tabletop a bunch of times before). If you do another game anytime after mid May, please send me a PM, I'll be down.
