@bigboxes - just saw the new post. I was going to be a smartass and say 'how could you tell, was the date in Arabic numerals?'

So, I wasted a lot of time this evening signing out of all my Google accounts on my desktop, deleting the cookies in Firefox and logging back into my Google accounts. Only to still have them show search dates like I'm in Tehran. I turn off my VPN (which was set to a sever here in Dallas) and *voila* everything was back to the Gregorian calendar. Google sucks.

@bigboxes - I use NordVPN since they're non-logging and sometimes I get things showing up in either Swedish or worse, French Canadian. ;) But that hasn't happened in a while. Guess they ponied up for some more US servers. Those still jump around but they stay w/in the continental US.

Google knows my location. Even if I clear their cookies. Google also knows the location of my VPN server. They are just choosing to eff with me. Oh, but I could use their VPN and they wouldn't have a problem with that. I've been using Windscribe for 7.5 years. Never had this issue.

I like the fact that it's in theory possible to download a car now. If you have the right CNC tools you could download all the code to make all the parts. Some assembly required.

I figured a workaround. Google Search page > Quick Settings (gear symbol) > Language setting > Results region > change from Current location to United States. Still bullshit. I Googled an answer to this earlier this evening (even used DuckDuckGo) and Google was blocking answers to this question.

Now imjur is now being a bitch. They've created another step to upload an image. I suppose this is to get you to use their default url which must advertise their website. Eff them too. I've been using them for free image hosting since Photobucket went pay to play.

Yeah, but unless you weave straw baskets for a living, it's going to be cheaper and infinitely less annoying to buy - for now at least. Once we have personal bots . . . we'll have to see.

Been quite chilly today. Took out the space heater to put under my desk. Fan is making a racket. So, I break out my security bits and take the thing apart as far as I can. The device will not come apart completely without breaking it open. I can already see the stress fractures in the plastic. I scrape the gunk with a letter opener, use compressed air and try to vacuum some of the gunk out. Did not change the fan noise. I really don't want to buy a new space heater for something I will only use a couple times a year. Man...

It was nice using my torx security bits for the first time, though.

Look for seams in the plastic. For a few short months, I worked at a Mattel factory. That was until I took out an overhead power assembly with my forklift. Good times.

Anyway, everything was sonic welded since everything was made of plastic. So if you find the seams, a Dremel with a very fine abrasive disc will cut thru the seams quickly and easily - well, in relative terms of course.

You still need to be very careful and wear safety glasses. Using a Dremel in that manner will result in "walking" and fly offs except on the very lowest settings. But you can't go too low or you'll stall out. And even then, it's a little like an itsy bitsy bucking bronco.

It IS doable however. If you're interested, I can go into more detail.

The seams should be about the same thickness of the plastic but you can't always count on that. There might "mating" posts and holes. You can leave those alone, generally speaking since they tend to not be glued. No need since the seams are welded.

Probably not going to rip it open and then not get it back together. DUCT TAPE!

There are lots of options for reassembly. I'd go with a non-conductive, heat resistant adhesive. But something simple like melting cloth tape used for hemming clothes might work. There's also hot glue sticks. I'm sure I can come up with more.

Also, you don't technically need a Dremel. A flathead screwdriver sharpened to a very fine edge would work as well and you avoid all the issues with a dremel. It also lets you do finer work. So you can just move along the seam, give screwdriver some gentle taps and then get more aggressive if the plastic is especially hard.

Like I said, if it was fairly easy to separate without breaking the plastic I just might. But a comparable space heater might cost me $25. And the plastic, as old as it is, is breaking and fracturing. It is kind of interesting to see how it was manufactured. I may save it just to do as you say.

I like the noise my cat makes when I touch him and he does not see it coming. "Brrrrrrou!"
Almost every cat I've had did something at least similar, so I understand exactly what you're talking about. This one I have now does it more than any other cat I've had.

Do you know The Simpsons? That groan that Marge does is what this one sounds like when he she starts getting hyper and bouncing off walls.

This one, only slightly more of a warbling, turkey-gobble sound.

One of her nicknames is Marge. lol
