Already my last night shift. These always go by so fast. Especially working from home! They still have not connected our office network lol. I'm not complaining though. At this point I wish they'd just let us work from home full time, we obviously know it can be done!

My 2008 Civic SI still has < 40k miles on it. So the conclusion one might draw is that I don't get out much.

Anyway, it was 1k miles over for an oil change. But also needs a new compressor for the a/c most likely. That should be only slightly less painful than the circle of hell where they give you continuous root canals. Front discs will probably be pushing up daisies soon. Everything else should be ok, but unlike most people, even those who identify as manly man, I have a reasonably detailed understanding how cars work. So if I start asking questions and they think there talking to some gramma with compression stockings and blue hair, well, I don't see that ending well.

Last time they just announced that the rear discs had been replace and not resurfaced (the latter being standard practice for millenia). I asked why and they didn't have any idea. If nothing else, it's a distinct and non-trivial gap in their knowledge base. A friend however talked me down so I still went back. So right now, I'm hoping they can restore my confidence.

I had been going there since the late 80's and despite grating on each other's nerves from time to time, they treated me fairly and did good work. He sold out several years ago but haven't gone in much except for the rare oil change - you know, since I drive about as much as a gramma.

edit - that last part was only regarding quantity not quality. ;)

Rotors are replaced now since they are thinner.
My friend said something along those lines.

It's weird to gradually but inevitably turning into a geezer. The people running the shop are at a minimum 20-25 years younger so I guess I can't fault them for not knowing why rotors shouldn't be resurfaced.

I mean, it would sort of be like not knowing why we ever put lead in gasoline in the first place.

Just ignore me. I'll be over in the corner drinking my tea and enjoying some Werther's butter scotch hard candy. :(
