Your first camera should probably be a user friendly compact. IF you decide you need more functions you can sell it on ebay and buy what you really want. I started with a Sony P50 and moved up over the years eventually getting the Nikon D40 and finally a Canon T3.
Now that I know what I do I'm going with a high end mirrorless like a Fuji XT3.
Not my first camera, I meant "beginner" as in something more serious than a point and shoot.

Ripping audio CDs. Feeling oddly nostalgic, I don't even know when was the last time I did this.

The stuff my sister asks of me sometimes... lol. Had to break out the old USB cdrom drive since I don't have an internal one on this system.

Mount and rip remotely. I shared the dvd rom drive in my PE R710.
