That would make sense. I turn off all the power management on my server.

Yeah I had disabled all the settings within Linux but forgot about the C State stuff, I think that's fairly new and not on all motherboards.

I'm really hoping that is all it is but it seems too easy. My next thing to try is to boot with the live environment to see if it does it with that too. It will at least rule out something wrong with my install. Then I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a different GPU and try that. I'm really hoping it does not get to that point though.

Lost some radios up north, fun fun. Just got off a 1+ hour conf call. Then a fibre cut is a separate territory that I'm suppose to take over after midnight but the tech for that area will stay a bit longer.

PC did not lock up yet... still early to tell, but it's looking good.

I don't know if me loading some X11 stuff like the clock etc counted as interacting with it though so really don't want to call it yet.

Morning nef.

PC didn't lock up this time, thinking the C state thing may actually be the culprit. That was a fluke if it was that, since the post I found was for an older version of Ubuntu.

Tonight will be the real test though as I'm not on night shift so I'll be going to bed and getting up at a more normal time. Me playing with it from work could have potentially reset whatever is freezing it. But I'm kind of confident if it lasted throughout me sleeping during the day.

I was having something similar happen to me a few years back. It was maddening wondering why my pc wasn't waking up out of hibernation. The advice I was getting was that the new CPUs had a C-state (was it Haswell that introduced us to that feature?). So, I just disabled that and haven't had any issues with that since.

Pretty crazy, the snow is almost all gone. Been raining quite a bit. I could in theory start on my deck if I wanted to, once the rain stops. We probably have at least one storm left as we usually get one around mother's day, but we dodged the past few storms so who knows, we could get an early spring.

I would normally take down my Christmas decorations but I've been turning them on, might leave em up longer.

Wow we have a rainfall warning here too actually. Guess that will probably take care of any snow that's left though, and clean up the streets a little, so there's that. I noticed they started street sweeping yesterday too. Summer is coming!

An large area of rain is spreading over the regions from the south and will continue into Thursday. Total rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are expected.

Rain may mix with a little snow or freezing rain at times in some areas overnight and Thursday morning giving locally slippery conditions over higher ground.

The rain will taper off in areas from Lake Superior to Chapleau Thursday morning but will persist through the day further east. Rain will continue well into Thursday evening in areas east of Timmins with potential for rainfall amounts near 50 mm.

Caution is advised near creeks and streams.

They are opening Texas back up on Friday. Still no haircuts until Mid-May at the earliest. I called my failsafe, a co-worker that has cut my hair before. No go. Said his wife doesn't want him cutting hair during the Pandemic of 2020™. Sigh.

So, I cut my own hair. Then I ran for the first time in ten years. Did three miles.
