I just bought a pair of 4GB Hynix modules, but this Dell isn't recognizing one. Still only have 4GB according to Win7. :confounded:
Mein kampf.

Not sure whether to blame the motherboard or the seller of the RAM. I can't even get into the BIOS on this thing, to check memory config.

Prebuilt PCs from Dell, HP etc are a pain when it comes to ram, they tend to be very particular in what they will take, some are better than others but it's a gamble really.

Thanks for commenting. Far as I can tell, they are the same RAM modules as the one that came installed - that's why I purchased them. Were even advertised as Dell replacements. Granted, I didn't order from Dell ... but the specs/brand matched.

My next step will be to verify each one works and is actually 4GB, by plugging into one slot - then the other. If both slots and both modules function, I'll know it's a config problem. If only I could pull up the BIOS.
If one module or one slot is non-functional, I can then blame the seller or Dell.

Sounds like you're doing everything right. Although, the BIOS thing is a bit different.

I've gotten a call or two or three from IT @work, "why are your doing that & stop it" when I change BIOS settings.

My esteemed employer just moved from Office 2016 to Office 365. We hates it. It comes with the disembodied spirit of the un-dead Clippy.

Database access is tied to Windows login and smartcard login at the same time. I'm logged in via one method but the other method is blocking me from doing anything. Each method is taking turns demanding logins and then kicking me out as they battle for login supremacy.

@BoomerD , tell me more about retirement.

Needed to pad an Amazon order to get free shipping.... so I got a Raspberry Pi 4 lol. Going to set it up as a HTPC. I currently have a 2 (I think) running Kodi, but I started to run into issues where it can't play certain files or it does half way so maybe an upgrade will help. Also going to set it up as just a regular desktop instead of Kodi, think it's going to be less finicky and I can do even regular PC stuff if I really want too. Also got a wireless keyboard/mouse combo a while back since when troubleshooting Kodi 99% of the time it requires a keyboard... so if I'm going to have a keyboard/mouse then may as well just run it as a regular desktop environment. Only thing that's nice with Kodi that I will miss is it remembers what you watched.... sometimes... because that feature randomly stops working after a while.

Found a pretty awesome 160 acre property... it ticks all the boxes of what I want, except it's a tad expensive (65k) and not water front. But a large river is accessible through crown land, so in theory I could make a fourwheeler trail and pull a small boat and even dock it, with proper permission from MNR. The nice thing about crown land is that it's essentially public land that anyone is allowed on, so in addition to the 160 acres of land I would own, I would be surrounded by even more forested land. This property has some areas that are clean cut and prime to build on, and it also has a camper and couple other structures so it would already serve as a nice base camp right off the bat.

I might have to go for a drive and check it out some time. I'm very tempted, I can technically afford this but it would really tap me out on credit. I think I would really regret not having water front though.... so I should keep looking, but this is the first property I find that REALLY interests me. It ticks all of my boxes, even the wishlist items like year round accessible road and mineral rights.

Decisions decisions...

Sounds like a nice place Squirrel. $400/acre sounds pretty good to me, especially factoring in the land around it you can borrow from time to time.

I splurged on some wooden matches from the dollar store today. They cost $1. Frivolous use of money since I have lots of lighters and paper matches, but I really like wooden matches. .3¢/light. I feel like a baller now.

Yeah really considering that one, it's more money that I want to spend now yet it's still cheap considering all the land I get. May have to go check it out on my days off and bring my drone. Ideally I'd want to wait till spring so I get a better idea of stuff like water run off etc so I think I will sit on it and it will give me time to ponder if it does not sell before.

Ideally I should wait till my mortgage is paid off before making such a big purchase, but then again people spend that much money buying a new truck, so that's how I can justify it. :p
