Morning nef. Actually managed to get up before noon today. :p It was hard, but I did it. Going to relax and have coffee then by noon I want to eat and start on the garage again. Need to finish up part of fireplace, chip part of floor, and put in a couple conduits going to the basement. Then it will be ready for the concrete pour.

Won't do much more than that since tomorrow I head back to work for day shift.

Some more progress today. Cleaned up remaining cinder blocks around the concrete block that the fireplace was on, and broke up part of the slab near the garage door, need to get it lower than the door so the new concrete will then be flush with door. Decided to keep the door for now. If I feel it's too much of a heat loss I can always wall it in later.

Lots of debris... concrete guy will help get rid of that for me, thankfully. Otherwise I would have no idea where to even bring that, or how.

Still need to put in a couple conduits going to the basement, will do that next time I'm off then need to clean up floor a bit more and will be ready for the pour.

That sickness really put me behind though, was hoping I'd be working on my deck by now. Once the concrete is done I will move on to the deck though.

Hair was looking a little crazy from all that dust.

That dust also seems to cause lot of hair to fall out, probably from the intense wash I had to give it... hopefully it's just that and not baldation.

Ugh I hate dealing with circuit troubles. Wish we got rid of that. We're surveillance for the network, we should have nothing to do with individual troubles. We barely even have the right tools to deal with those. Can't look them up or anything.

Nef. Might be another busy day. Night shift guy was busy as hell including entire network going down for one telco. Don't know why this stuff always happens on the weekend when it's impossible to get ahold of anyone.

So far so good... Bunch of power outages in Quebec but that's typical. Seriously they have one of the weakest power grids, constant outages. Most of the COs have good batteries though so can usually ride them out if they are less than 12hours.

Never have replaced body parts on my car before. Got a new painted fender and front bumper cover along with other front end parts. Spent yesterday afternoon/evening highlighting part numbers on a schematic and stapling it to the envelope with the parts. Still missing a critical part that won't arrive until Monday..

Huh? How will the colour match?

Speaking of car parts been thinking of getting a hitch for my car. It looks like they are more or less bolt on. Might even attempt the install myself. My car is so low though, really need to be able to put it on a hoist to work under it. So might buy it and get a shop to do it. Once I have a hitch then I can look at getting a trailer. Sometimes I see used ones go on sale forcheap. I just want something so I can easily bring home a couple sheets of plywood or drywall or a bunch of 2x4s or other stuff like that.

... You don't even have a proper jack and stands and you are gonna work under a car?

Will find out. At this point, I really don't care too much about perfection. It has to be better than one it is now. I just don't want to spend the money needed for someone else to do the labor. My wife's health issues have drained us dry. So, anything I can do myself is a plus. It's a 10 year old car that I just want to be functional.

Remember, it's paid for! I'm going to drive it into the ground. It's getting close to 150K. I think it will go to 300K if I fix the wear and tear parts. I don't mind and I'm capable of doing much of it.

I would not really trust consumer grade jack stands to work directly under the car. Fine for changing tires but not going directly under it. That stuff is all made of chinesium. I'd PROBABLY be ok, but still rather not chance it. A lift is a better way to go. That's why I'll have it done and not do it myself.

I tried a new Chinese restaurant this evening. I read the reviews and they said it was Cantonese. I tried a dish called House Crispy Noodle, that came with shrimp, chicken and pork. It was very good. I'm guessing it was cooked in peanut oil. Quite yummy. I will try something different next time.

I have a pair of jack stands. I use them in conjunction with my hydraulic jack. The jack stands are there if the jack fails. Used together, I'm not afraid to work under my vehicle. I don't use jacks stands when changing my oil. The only thing that is under my car is my arm. Nothing to get crushed, as I only have to lift the front end up a little bit. Not enough to lift the tires off the ground.
