Boo guess I did not pay attention when I downloaded GOT season 5. It's in HEVC format, so I can't open it. No idea what that format is but run into it now and then and nothing opens it.
You know it's an oddball format when even VLC can't open it.
2.1. At the mercy of whatever the package manager provides unless I want to jump through hoops to try to get a newer version, not worth my time for a work laptop. I go the playback to work but it's not actually watchable. Too blocky and choppy. Guessing this is a closed source codec which is probably why it's problematic. Managed to just download a different version using a more common codec.
Huh? 2.1 is ancient.
Linux distros tend to be behind in what they put in the package managers. I try to avoid messing with trying to install stuff manually as it just conflicts with the stuff from the package manager and makes a mess.
Don't think the version matters because I was able to open those video files on my home computer and it's running 2.2. I think it's something with the laptop at work, it just can't handle the files for some reason. Was just easier to download a different version of the videos that use a more widespread codec like mkv.
