A guy I used to work with's body was recently found. Murdered by his girlfriend, and her son. A quick web search says he's had some legal issues; looks like a few DUIs. He was a good guy. Kind of mopey, and kind of dumb, but well meaning. He moved out of state awhile ago, and never really prospered from what I'd hear.

Sucks, sounds like he had a crappy life overall, some people just get the bad luck of the draw it seems.

I just put a charger on the new 12v battery I put in my shed for the solar setup. Still not charged after a few hours so guess it was really discharged, did not realize. I figured the 60w panel and pwm controller would charge it up fine over the days but don't think it can keep up. Solar panel is not really in an ideal location though but it's the best I can do because the backyard faces west and there's shadows from the south so pretty much have to face it west.

Will be a bit better when I do end up putting some larger panels on the roof though. I want to do at least 2 100w panels in series to give me a higher voltage to work from. Maybe even do 4 panels. Even an overcast day should technically be able to charge the battery with a proper mppt controller.

If I cut my birch tree I would also get more sun hitting the panels, and it would also open up the option of putting panels on the house's west side in addition to the south side. I feel wrong cutting a tree for sake of solar though. It's like taking two steps backwards and one step forward in terms of being green. 😛

But first I need to actually FIND 100w+ panels. Seems nobody really sells them here and it's too expensive to ship via online store.
