Haha i can binge eat those things too. I always get them with shell though as that tends to be what's available. I'm sure places like Bulk Barn probably have them without. I try to avoid that place though, I can't walk out of there without spending over $100 on junk I don't need lol. But great place to get nuts, I should actually go again and just be more disciplined and not touch the candy stuff.

We've been baiting the pack rat trap with pistachio kernels. They work great. Little buggers are still chowing down when I pick up the trap. At least they get a good meal before they set out for their new home.

I tend to use the shell of another one to open them, Usually they are split enough that it's easy to take them apart but you do get the odd one where you really have to get in there and pry.

I'm not talking biting through the shell. I'm talking about biting gently on the sides of the shell to crack it open. Usually, they are already split open enough to allow you to use your teeth to easily pry the halves apart. Sometimes you have to bite down on the sides to get it started. I try to bite near the top tip and not dead in the middle of the nut.
