Second to last day at work tomorrow. My last day of work just so happens to fall after the first of the year, so I get 80 hours of a vacation bank doled out with my last paycheck.

Cash. Money.

Worked Christmas, Boxing Day and will be working New Years. Can't wait to see my next cheque. :D Too bad the tax man is getting most of it though. :/ I don't even look at the gross value, it makes me too sad. It will be like 7 grand but take home will be around 3.

Got to another stopping point in my file server project. Was able to move the file server UPS to under the desk behind the main rig with the main rig UPS. I had to run the power cables for the printer, desk lamp to the surge only outlets. In the battery/surge side there are the file server, cable modem, switch and speakers.

In the event of a power outage, my network and main rig/file server stays up for close to 45 minutes or more. Power outages are rare. Most of the time, the outages are under my UPSes run time. I know that our power is dirty and the bank of batteries add to the stability. Usually it's only M$ updates that require a reboot. I put those off to my convenience.

I am so happy to have the mess all cleaned up. Cleaned cabling, vacuumed dust from intake filters and dusted the desktop. Shredded lots of paper and saved others for later filing. A lot of scews and cables were organized and put away. Lots of my boxes for all the new parts were also stowed away. I believe I completed this phase over a course of four days.

I purchased a 6ft. USB2.0 extension to run my keyboard to my monitor. I also ran two USB3.0 cables to the upstream ports on the underside of my monitor. Plugged the bluetooth adapter to the monitor as well. Now, my monitor acts as a KVM switch. I did have to change a USB setting in the monitor to get it to wake the built in video of the Pentium dual core (G4400) when the mouse is moved.

What's left? Configuring Plex. Part 5 would be when I swap out the guts for the server mobo and dual Xeons. That will be a whole different kind of fun!

My servers are quite loud, can hear even upstairs. I eventually need to fully enclose the server room. Need to do hvac first. Basically its just going to be an air circulator that uses a combination of recirculation/indoor/outdoor air based on sensor temperatures. The room will be insulated as an extra noise barrier.

Can sorta hear it in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_6bg3vqUdo

Was just straight from camera, no editing, so it's just sound from inside the house.

Noisy :awe:

Not noisy. That's why I haven't gone LGA 3647 until they have the consumer coolers. My equipment is very quiet. Been doing this a long time. Sent back the industrial fans due to the noise.
