Night shift nef.

I'm browsing Digikey, because I need <$10 of parts but can't justify paying shipping for such as small order. This is dangerous. I always end up spending over $200 when I do that. But get free shipping!

I can get the same/similar off Amazon, and get 10 of them for the same price as 1 from Digikey, but with Amazon it tends to take months for stuff of that nature to come in as it's on a pedal boat from China.

Funny you mention that. My desktop speakers started humming about a month ago. I thought maybe it was due to the temporary power strip running next to the audio cable. I did some research and came up with three individuals who repaired these same model speakers by replacing the capacitors on the built-in amp's board. I bought them on Digikey. Two aluminum capacitors, 10000 μF, 20% 35V. They don't sell these on Amazon. Turns out that the total was $11 and some change with shipping.

So, I spent the last 4 hours on this project figuring out how to take this all apart, desolder the old caps, solder the new caps (Rubycon) and then put it all back together. I thought I was a genius. I plug it all back in, turn it on and... hummmm. But no sound. So, the hum is still there, but it doesn't fluctuate. Red power light doesn't come one, but power is definitely there. No sound.

FML. Boxes is bummed. It was cool using my dremel tool that I rarely use. Plus, first time using my new Weller industrial soldering iron. My head hurts. Night squirrel. Boxes out.

A little cold out there today. I'll have to be sure to start the car before I head home. I should also have brought an extension cord so I can plug it in... it's been so warm this year I have yet to need plugging it in, till now. It will start fine, just kinda hard on the motor. :p

Caveat emptor of course, but I'm sure you know that.

Had to google that. Means buyer beware. Yeah that pretty much goes for anything on Amazon / Ebay. :p

Not for Amazon. You are talking about third party stuff sold thru Amazon. Love Amazon. Buyer beware for third party shit sold thru Amazon. If you want cheap Chinese shit then you roll the dice.

Most stuff seems to be 3rd party though, unless it's really common household items, but those you can just get at Walmart. :p

Not my experience. Maybe it depends on what you're looking for. Most computer parts they have. If it's something obscure then yeah, it's third party.
