You know how difficult it is to make mashed potatoes? You know the kind you mash up? I got a buddy who went to culinary school. He makes pancakes with Bisquick. I'm like WTF.

you know how difficult it is to make mashed potatoes when you don't have potatoes?

The rosemary/apple/cheddar is amazing. I got this on a whim cause it sounded interesting. I've gotten away from rolled oats, and pretty much only eat steel cut oats. I'm gonna try to recreate it with steel cut oats, and fresh ingredients.

You are marine? I'm an old sailor. My nephew just graduated from MCRD Parris Island. They stuck him with EOD. Fuuuuuck.

I was long ago, but once one always one. I was a Hollywood Marine myself :p I used to have a lot friends in EOD, but was not any active fighting going on then.

That can be a scary MOS depending on where you are these days to put it mildly.

What was your MOS? I'm going to guess my nephew's test scores were not that high and limited his options. He's smart, but lazy. I'm guessing the Marines will change that. Also, where were you stationed?

I was a pog HQ type in S-1, I went in kinda went in open contract trying to get into intel att, just signing the line had bit of a admin career.

My Senior DI who was Admin even made the other two Recon DI's look like slackers almost, Marines are supposed to be Marines no matter the job I guess. You can get assigned to a Recon unit to do admin, and are expected to do anything they do, or it used to be.

Remington Raiders :p

I shoved a lot of paper after boot camp was an 0121 but I did other things after that and the secondary was a helo machine door gunner.

I was with H&MS-24 Bandits most of the time, initially started off in VMFA-232 with the Red Devils when they had F-4s at Kaneohe Bay, HI.

I did not realize at the time was the oldest Marine Corps Air Squadron att.

Was weird seeing one of the old F-4 Red Devils Phantoms in one of the Transformer movies.

Hamsters had little A-4s like the attack planes in Top Gun.

Used to FOD walk on the flight line first thing in the morning, hangar watch etc :p

We had 800 people in the squadron att without counting temps, I pretty much was in charge of keeping them sorted out paper work wise while still doing the usual Marine crap.

I even was recalled for the damned rifle range once when the MAG CO had a damned problem with a travel claim. That was a weird one, he was arguing with the Colonel at disbursing and damned Brigadier General even got involved and I was stuck in the middle of it all.

I was in admin. A Personelman. I picked my rate. I had a 99 ASVAB and could have done anything I wanted. Wasn't going to do more than 4-5 years so I picked something I saw myself doing. Difference was that I lived on a ship and went to sea. I had collateral duties just like you. Got deployed three times. Stationed in Norfolk. Went down to Miami in '92 for the Hurrican Andrew relief effort. Did two med cruises. Been to Barcelona, Rome, Jerusalem. Went down to Guantanamo Bay twice for biological, radiation and chemical warfare training. Didn't really care for the military. Loved going to sea. Glad I did it.

My sister was a Marine. Was an aviation mechanic and worked on F-18's. I have a really good friend who was an admin in the Marines. Stationed out in San Diego. The only action he saw was in Tijuana with a couple of whores. LOL

Never deployed myself, had a chance to hit Australia after I got married 3 years in att.

I wish I had went to Australia in retrospection, but that is past history :p

I had a pretty high ASVAB, it's irrelevant a lot of the time. Was higher than the majority of the pilots at any rate.

I was stationed onboard the USS Sylvania (AFS-2), a combat stores ship. This is what my ship looked like.

We supplied everything. Fuel, munitions, food. You name it. But we did it all underway while moving at full speed.

We had a couple Chinook Squadrons there also, and Stallions and one Huey.

Chinooks are pretty amazing actually, high lift, fast and can sneak up on things when they want to.

Better than an Osprey IMHO.
