I'm such a nerd, it's like 6am and here I am at work watching videos on switch mode power supplies, buck/boost converters and magnetism.

I kind of want to build my own high wattage -48v adjustable voltage SMPS, because I can't seem to find any anywhere. They actually do make mosfets that can handle like over 100 amps, and the rest should not be too hard. Basically build a FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER then do a buck converter from there. Probably want to throw in a transformer somewhere down the line for isolation, can always put it at the end right before the capacitor. I'd of course use some Rubycon ones and not the cheap ones. :p

It's probably going to happen. :p

Actually, I have an old UPS I want to try to fix just as a learning project. It's really hard to get to parts of the board though and the power portion is of course on the harder side to get to. And the more I see all these nice beefy components the more I just want to salvage it.

There's a nice transformer I could probably rewind as a high voltage transformer. :p

Though the idea of making it into a high current transformer sounds like fun too, I could use it to make an induction coil. Though I have another transformer I use as a door stopper I could do both...

I regret throwing out my past UPSes that failed. So many nice goodies in there.

On other note, just got home from dentist, I technically should go to bed but it's kinda late now to do that, I'd end up waking up too late during the day and it would just screw me right up.

Going to try to tough it without sleeping.

I kinda don't want to have coffee so soon after going to the dentist, either. I might have to though. :p

Ok now I'm REALLY tired, but if I go to bed now that will just screw me right up. I need to at least try to tough it till like 8 at least.

I kinda want to also see if there's any northern lights tonight, since yesterday I was working, but I think I'll be too tired to go out and check.
