for real?

red squirrel needs to come south to minnesota where he can enjoy regular 90+ days full of mosquitos and even a few over 100

Haha no thanks. +30 is the very high end of what I want to have long term. A day here and there is not bad but a full week of that is quite brutal. 20-22 is perfect.

I experienced 39 once when I went down south to Canada's Wonderland. That was brutal. I really don't know how anyone stands that. I was in the water park so it was not as bad, but even being in the water park it was just brutal hot. As much as I get tired of our winters I can't imagine living where 30+ degrees is the norm. Though if I did not have to work, it would not be as bad. It's one thing just sitting around outside, and it's another thing to have to do work in that.

They took away the ONR and now they want to build high speed rail in the south. I think Northern Ontario needs to separate! We need our own government that actually knows we exist. 😛 Can call it Bloc Ontario North. LOL

Would be nice to have a HSR from Toronto to my city or one of the surounding cities. Heck, even North Bay. Not sure if it typically follows highways, but if yes it could do something like

Toronto -> North Bay -> Sudbury -> Matheson -> Hearst -> Thunder Bay -> Dryden -> Kenora

At that point, it could maybe even keep going if they decide to do a Canada wide one

In terms of populated areas it would make sense if it stopped at my city (Timmins) but it would maybe be too odd of a turn, Matheson is kinda more central to that general area while keeping the line fairly straight.

Of course, could reduce the amount of stops and do

Toronto -> North Bay -> Timmins -> Marathon -> Thunder Bay -> Kenora

Then again, Porter flights are so cheap now, this would have to be much cheaper to be worthwhile.

Since Porter came into the picture it's actually easier to get to Toronto area now, no more >$1,000 flight fares or having to drive.

how about from thunder bay to duluth to the twin cities and then back to toronto and then back to thunder bay on the route i mentioned

I used to fly to Thunder Bay.

I used to fly to Thunder Bay.

Went there for the first time a few months back (well actually time goes by so fast probably been closer to a year).

We have some stuff we monitor in that region so I got to go visit their main office.

If ever you go back, you need to try Persian pastries. It's almost worth going there just for that. :biggrin:
