I am amazed drone stike hasn't got you yet.

Such a pestilence those things. One with equipment can smell a rat hundreds of kilometers out, and has the scalar firepower to eliminate it before it even was a hint of a threat. Not a cycle of power interrupted, not a wink of sleep lost. ;)

I don't have that option.

I just ordered a gallon of flux remover and a half gallon of 99% IPA.

NO ONE LIGHT A MATCH!

1,1,1 Trichloroethane. Of course tetrachloroethylene is better but those pesky (EPA) regs you guys in the 'States have.

The smell of flux is sometimes enough to convince me to use copper instead of pex when doing plumbing. I did my humidifier drain in 3/4 copper. It was fabulous.

Copper is expensive and does break down with acidic effluent (which escape lines from air handlers/dehumidication should *not* be!)

Of course the proper way to join copper is brazing, no real flux needed. Takes more skill as the flow temp is getting close to the MP of the original stock but the joint is strong, can take a crapload of PSI. Pex can take a moderate freeze that will make mister copper swell and split and give surprise when the spring thaw comes. ;)
