yea...the war of 1812 was nasty

This was musket, hatchet, knife, axe kind of fighting. This wasn't snipe a guy from 1000 yards out, it was grab one of his arms with one hand and gut him with your other. Now imagine 10,000 people doing that at once. The battlefields would have literally been covered in blood and guts.
