speaking of winter coats...

I have a very nice one left over from last year. Its a black pea coat with a hood...really nice. However my current work station isn't heated very well, so I need a coat to wear here. The office lady is going to order me a work one, but that can take a while to come in.

So do I purchase a Carhart to wear here for now? Do I just wear hoodies and look like a slob? Do I wear my nice one in and risk ruining it?

huh? You are from NYC. We have the same weather...

it's Canada, it's a frozen wasteland as soon as you cross the border :colbert:

(jk, I also needed a proper winter jacket for NYC weather... but it's easier to half-ass it when my normal winter "outdoor" exposure is the 25' run from the subway exit to my office tower. I figured I should get a real jacket that will hold up to walking around outside in)

my winter getup is undershirt, dress shirt, Columbia 3 in 1 jacket and tweed pants.

I put on winter thermal boots if I am shoveling the snow.

went with an UnderArmour "ColdGear" jacket.

my old winter coat was a vintage wool toggle coat... in theory, it was warm enough, but it *just* had the toggle clasps, no zipper, so it didn't do a whole lot to shield me from the wind unless I held it shut with my hands.

I'll probably still keep the toggle coat in my closet for when I've got to dress up. it's oversized enough that it fits well over a suit jacket or sweater.
