Let's go with the more likely assumption. Buy used wheels, buy new tires, mount/balance. There, once those tires are on, barring critical damage, that's five seasons without needing to be tinkered with.

On the other side, the current wheels/tires would become snow only. Two seasons on them, then I need new tires. That is no difference than swapping tires off wheels, these Nokians will only see two more seasons. I don't know how I'll find new Hakkas then, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes. So... no difference in cost, ergo, it drops from my equation. It only counts as an $80 mount/balance. So I'm up to two mounts/balances total in five years.

If I don't obtain second wheels, then it's two mounts/balances per year. We're using five years as my timeline.

Two versus ten. $160 versus $800.

At a minimum, new tires will be $700, plus $80 m/b, plus the wheels (~$400). There's $1200.

That's $400 sunk beyond the recoup cost (so really, about the cost of the wheels).
