That's the one semi-legitimate gripe my wife has. My car is a two-door sedan and she wants it to have four doors. She wants me to buy an SUV.

I kinda wanted an used Acura RDX but a few things:

• No manual trans option
• Initial cost
• Long term cost
• Gas millage compared to civc

The used Civic Si sedan idea seems a lot better

IMO, Honda Civic Si in need for a desperate update. It is getting long in the tooth.

Wtf happened to whole 2012 civic? Shitty upgrade.
Honda pres has promised a full mid cycle rebuild of the car. Looking forward to that.

If I got a "new" car it would probably be a 2009-2011 civic si

Well, we do need something with some hauling capacity. However, with gas prices wildly fluctuating, I don't think it is a good idea right now. That's one of the reasons I've held onto my car for so long because 3 or 4 years ago, I thought we'd have viable electric cars by now. Oops!

I don't see why you like Honda/Acura so much, it does puzzle me a bit. Then again, at least it isn't Toyota/Lexus combination.

There's no need to get an Si then, I'd assume Civic sedans exist in other configurations more similar to LX/EX/whateverX.

By hauling capacity, are we talking internal storage, or towing ability? If internal storage, are we talking four suitcases and a dozen bags of groceries, or are we talking boards, plywood, and a few milk crates of tools?

I figured ClearWire finally started throttling our usage. After certain amount of datas moved across network they throttle shit, bringing shit down to snail speed.
Not good when I'm uploading tons of videos to YT nearly every day.

I really thought that when gas prices were insane the last time (2007? 2008?) that an enterprising company would come along and solve the problem. I bought into the Volt hype and thought every other manufacturer would follow suit, but that didn't happen.

More internal storage for things like boards, plywood, gardening supplies, etc. We really don't have the need of an open bed, for example, because something large enough to require one (like trees or some furniture) is something we'd probably have delivered and if not and it is a situation where we'd need to move lots of big things, I'd just rent a truck.

But even with all that said, the current plan once I get rid of my car would be for my wife's car to be our daily driver and since it has less than 70K miles, it would last us several more years beyond my car.

If cars were like pc cd roms (remember the X which the number in front of 'X' was a multiple of the standard data rate of the compact disc?)

In which case car transmissions would have no less than 32 speeds forward and probably a few reverse. Transmissions made in China to be affordable with gears made of nylon oxygen!

Of course all that's needed is two cones and a belt and you have infinite speeds available.

I'm surprised you fell into that one.

Plywood is a bitch for internal hauling though. Eight foot boards aren't easy, most vehicles will end up needing them run across the seats. Longer than eight is more of a pain.

My parents own a Yukon XL, otherwise known as a Suburban. It's 18' long, 8' wide, 6.5' tall, weighs 5300 lbs, has 335 HP, and gets about 14/18 MPG. With the third row seats removed, and the second row flattened down, an 8'x4' sheet of plywood fits in the back with just a couple inches to spare. Anything longer than a 10' board (remember Pythagorean) goes across the seats to the dashboard, or on the roof, or out the rear glass.
