Another worthless Circuits lab. About 40 minutes, most of that being wasted while the TA displayed that he has never TA'd a single class, has never even seen the lab room before, didn't know where the supplies were kept (I had to show him), et cetera.

On the plus side, hopefully I'll be able to run right over this guy any time he bugs me.

LOL, I remember teaching that class. I think the students hated me. :D

Were you a graduate student teaching that to the undergrads?

Yes. Professors hated teaching that class and always tried to pawn them off.

I remember one time, another professor came to me and asked me to teach it. I agreed, thinking nothing of it. The next day, my advisor came to me and bitched me out, talking about how I couldn't do that because of my job in his lab and allegedly, it would violate my research assistantship.

Of course, the following semester when HE got stuck teaching that course, he magically changed his tune and I was suddenly teaching it.

whatabout just building a freenas box?

Building a box with storage isn't the issue. I already have a server with six hot-swap bays. I am looking forward a little and trying to eliminate that server and replace it with a storage solution as I don't know that I need the server. My development VMs can go on my workstation.

alfa, which NAS did you buy and how much storage capacity does it have?

Ended up buying:
NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus
NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus

Both have 2x 1TB drives. The Ultra 4 has room for 4.
Ultra 2 is running RAID-1 and the Ultra 4 is running X-RAID2

thing with freenas is you can just keep adding hdd to it. And I am sure you have a spare box somewhere. Quite a few of the nas solutions you buy is based on freenas

Cleaner was here when I got home, she's got the vacuum out, but the trunk of her car was open when I pulled in, so I'm thinking she's running a bit ahead of schedule.

I like it. Just make sure not to get a ARM based readynas. The Ultra 2 is running a dual core Atom.
