Hey neffers.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being P&N troll crazy, how crazy is this semester scheme?

History of Western Civilization, Circuit Theory I w/lab, Chemistry I w/lab, Calculus III, Differential Equations. Total is 19 credit hours; 12 is full time minimum, 20 is maximum allowed load. I must pass ALL courses with a C or better, and for a total of GPA 2.5 or better.

I'm thinking it's about a 9.

Yup, considering you work I'd say it's a 9-10.

Well, the lack of good teachers extends to chemistry.

The overall average per RMP is about 2.9, but pretty much all the science, math, and engineering ones are below that average. Are the lib arts kids over at the other campus pulling the average up? D:

Well, I'm on the wait list now for calculus with a poor teacher, chemistry with a poor teacher, and chemistry lab with an unknown.

The only two bits of good news - are the C or better, 2.5 or better, no drops, I can get into EE finally; and my circuit recitation professor is pretty damn good.

History because I have the open time at 8 AM, and have to be on campus by 8 (for parking) anyways.

Calc 3, Circuits I, and Chem I because EE dept. is requiring me to pass those three to join EE.

Diff. Eq. so that I can call next fall my junior semester and get back in line with the overall curriculum design.

I removed diff.eq. from my design, on the grounds that it would be a fourth very bad teacher, and push me to 19 credits.

So now I'm at 16, with three wait lists involved, and have until Friday to get enrolled and to consider dropping history - which I'm strongly entertaining.

No offense, but I think 19 hours is a little much especially given some of those courses.

That's one to drop. Sure, it might be easy material, but that doesn't mean it won't be work -- do you have to do papers or anything like that?

My rule of thumb on liberal arts/humanities courses was that if a big paper was due at the end of the semester, I'd drop it and take another course. I didn't want to waste my time doing that much work for a non-major class.

Six page paper on a topic of my choice involving Western civ. before 1700, plus a couple small things. Also, all items, even homeworks, must include in text citations, Chicago-style. I already think the guy is a nutter, but I'm trying to avoid falling behind further on credit hours.

RIM blows it again.

They needed to bring in someone from outside, not just elevate their hand picked successor who sees things the same as they do.

Another nail in the coffin.

On the other hand... Chem, Calc, Circuits, all three courses C or better, and semester GPA 2.5+, gets me into EE. Any failures, W's, or insufficient GPA, and I think that's going to be it, the EE dept. is going to tell me to go away and find another major.

That guy sounds like an asshole.

Even though engineering didn't recognize it, I was going to do a minor in econ. I went to this one class and the first day, the prof mentioned that a semester-long research paper would be required. I went to the registrar and dropped the class afterwards.

He's 28-32, and my impression is that he's an overgrown grad student - (no offense to you as a former grad student) arrogant and socially inept.

That's right, and that's why you focus on those three and maybe another course and do DiffEq and history later. Calc III, if it is like my Calc III was, is really easy (multi-variate calc if I recall). Chem and DiffEq are more black magic than science, and Circuits will totally depend on the instructor. It can be an easy class where you learn lots or a hard class where you're totally frustrated.

Two math's @ once. [and one is DiffyQ's] Blech.

Also, is the history class just tests & final, or would there be a project / paper involved. If it's the latter, then I'd rate this a 10.

Also, my advice is to avoid taking engineering classes in the summer if you can avoid it. I did that one summer and blew it off because, well, it was the summer. You can get away with blowing liberal arts classes off but you can't get away with it in engineering.

19 hours with those topics is crazy!

I'm taking 19 now. It's not hard because I'm taking two online which I can do during the weekends. Most of my other classes are core classes in my college :\
