I can install to the C: base directory, but not Program Files or Windows, and every programming environment I've ever tried to install wants to add Java or run updates or something that involves tapping one of those two folders.

It's so bad that I can't even update Firefox.

wait, you are running filemaker on windows?

Like, at my last job I was a quasi sysadmin and my computer monitor was facing a wall so I had no blocked sites, nor had to worry about someone seeing my screen. Other people were limited by their group policies, which had a black list of porn and generally NSFW content, but it was pretty outdated and no one was ever reprimanded for watching NSFW content even though I knew they were. Their only concern was to not load pron or gore while someone was watching them.

Interesting.

I'm at a college, so I figure even if they want to enforce things, it'll be nearly impossible.

It all depends on your worksite's policy.

Until this one, every company I ever worked for had proxy servers and logged all traffic. At one of those companies, they had an Access application tied into the log files and you could search for common terms (sex, fuck, etc) and generate reports on who was surfing porn sites at work. Some of the sick sites people surfed at work were unbelievable, but the worst part was the people surfing them. Middle-aged men with families who were regular church-goers and even younger ladies were surfing sites too.

I was a manager at that company and one of my employees (who was a fucktard) would surf porn and was even dumb enough to have a "test laptop" with a picture of a naked lady with her legs spread as the wallpaper. I warned him once and then I caught wind he was doing it again. Sure enough, I searched his hard drive and found that he downloaded porn videos there. I screenshotted it, called him into my office, and asked him to explain.

He turned red, started sputtering around, and claimed that his friends sent him links to the file in email and he just downloaded them without looking. I said "Well I guess you should choose your friends more carefully because I'd never email a friend a file called 'DebbieDoesTheFootballTeam.avi.'" I then asked him to explain some other things I found.
