Briefly musing over setting up new reverse lights... by means of a bracket attached underneath the rear of the car, mounted to a spring. Spring means the default location is in the up position. Car goes into reverse, set of weather-sealed wires carry power down to the new lights. A powerful solenoid, or more likely, a small motor, rotate the bracket down, and the lights ignite. The end result would have them underneath the rear bumper, pointed slightly outwards to the sides, with far more light and better control of it as well. Take it out of reverse, and the lights go out, spring retracts the assembly.
