on my drive back from Peoria, Il., I saw at least 30 cars ditched in the snow banks on the Michigan highway... even with brand spanking new Blizzak WS-60 on my car, I was still losing traction. And there were tractor trailers around me

That is pretty bad, new Blizzaks (barring mold release) are amazing, and a heavy car is a win.

Tractor trailers have it pretty easy, they're so heavy.

Small surface streets through suburbs... its pretty sloppy except on main roads until several hours after a storm. As for ice, it stays below freezing for weeks on end, and the salters don't come out unless it's actively snowing or just snowed.

I remember New York Thruway was terrible during a blizzard, swarms of heavy plow trucks everywhere, but you couldn't safely change lanes, I almost spun through a pile of snow, ice, and salt on the lane division.

I have those. SLI 460 is great for SCII, unnecessary for everything else, and I haven't even played a video game in a month.
