Can't you find a copy on another (DFS) server/target?
I don't understand.
Server mirrored copies in different locations for redundancy in case there is a problem. We do this here. If I delete something and don't have a (local) backup I can fetch it from the namespace. It takes time but is better than not having it all!
Yeah, um, this is a single user in-house server.
What about using a online service to back up stuff?

I measure in TB. The initial backup would take forever.
The bigger they are the harder they fall! (sound familiar?)
The more data you have unsecured the more painful it will be when (not if) a drive fails...
TB is not bad (unless you mean tuberculosis!).
The music archive is over 167 thousand TB. (yes 167+ PB)
