Overheard a conversation from another cashier at the grocery store, she said she got fired from her previous job for some BS reason. After she got fired, she ended up winning an award. Her boss who fired her got the award in the mail from corporate and then had to hide it because they did not want the other employees to see that, but eventually the word got out. I thought that was actually pretty hilarious. I would totally frame that along with whatever paperwork I got from being fired.

Stupid fucking Google won't let me stop them from backing up my texts. They were backing up all the pics and videos I send. It was taking all my online storage. Sucks that you can't toggle SMS/MMS to stop backup. I had to manually delete all my conversations in Messages and then delete all my data from Google. Only then would my online storage return to normal. Fuck Google.

I hate that phones are so tightly integrated with the vendor and how much info they get on you constantly. I don't want Google or Apple or anyone touching or even seeing my data, you made the phone, I paid for it, now F off. Shouldn't even need an account and app stores should be open and vendor agnostic.

I run a custom rom which avoids all that but that comes with some drawbacks too like lack of RCS texting or access to like 99% of apps. I might just say F it and stick with regular rom on my next phone. My dad likes to send pictures via text and when Apples send pictures it's always super low res, maybe if I get a phone that can do RCS it won't be the case.

Apple's latest update pushed a new spyware feature in the photo app that we had to turn off.

To be truthful, Google wants me to upgrade my Google One plan. I don't even like having it in the first place. But like a couple of months ago they start backing up the pictures and videos inside my texts. Suddenly, my data storage seems to go up 1 GB every few days. So, when I finally get to 98% full of 100 GB that they allow you for the basic plan, I search for what is causing the problem. I find that Google is now backing up the pictures and videos that I send along with my texts. 45GB! Eff that. The thing is they don't give you an easy way to delete this. You can't just go to your messenger app and press a button and delete all your texts. You can't choose to not back up your SMS/MMS. It's all or nothing. And Google burries the ability to turn off these settings. In fact, I Google how to turn this stuff off. I'm in the middle of the process to do exactly what the tutorials tell me to do when Google changes the software in real time and removes options that I had to turn some of this stuff off. This is so Orwellian. Fuck Google. All because they want me to upgrade their plan. We so need to vote in different politicians who can regulate these big tech corporations and AI.
