I think I'm gonna watch a Christmas Story this afternoon, then when the sun sets I'll watch Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard 2, then maybe The Nightmare Before Christmas then maybe, if theres time, Home Alone.

My web server had like 2500+ days of uptime. It was badly due to be updated but only way to do that is to order another server so I can have both running side by side so I can do a smooth migration and I just got lazy. Unfortunately it got hacked so I was forced to do it, then the new one with new distro got hacked again before I was even done uploading backups or configuring anything. Ended up shutting down my stuff for now and pointing domains to a shared hosting platform. I have a feeling log4j and some recent apache CVEs have to do with how they got in.

Going to attempt to bring stuff back up in the new year and hope whatever vulnerability they are using got patched. The 1st server I could understand, it was out of support but the 2nd one is a mystery as it was an up to date distro.

I'm going to church tonight for the first time since my wife's funeral. Called Wednesday and they said I didn't need to wear a mask. Alright. I'm in.

Got the cats some treats and the boy cat is getting a new bed. Gonna open my lone present when I get home from church. A co-worker always gives me hockey related stuff. He's given me 5 Boston Bruins jerseys, 1 Dallas Stars jersey, 2 Boston Bruins t-shirs and a Original Six hockey puck. He says there are two items in this nice sized box. So, two more jerseys? Stay tuned!

I watched Home alone 1 and 2 last night, consecutively. It's practically a tradition for me at this point. :D

Been a while since I watched Die Hard, another great Christmas movie.
I was joking. Kept thinking of Culkin and Donald Trump. Personally, I love Miracle on 34th Street (the original). I'm going to put on some Christmas carols tonight when i get back home. Binging on Succession right now. Started a few days ago.

I'm very happy that you guys are happy. I'm deep in my "meh" comfort zone. Sat on the front porch, grabbed a few rays on my legs. Had 1/2 length winter jacket on + hat + shades. Blew some bubbles. Had to stick the wand with bubble juice inside my jacket. More and sparkly bubbles once it warmed up a bit.

edit: humble brag. I'd originally gotten some Ray-Ban 8413s for bifocals but the lenses aren't tall enough if you go with progressives. So I had them converted to shades. Pretty sure this model was discontinued but I love their bluish-hued sharkskin and silver texture. Check it out.

I hibernate my machine between 11pm and 8am.
Gasp! When you could be running BOINC for some cold, starving, deserving science project? Tsk, tsk. Mostly kidding. If you do that, you may as well just stick a straw into the outlet and direct it to a colony of those microbes that "eat" electricity. Which would probably be a lot cheaper since they're so much more efficient.

edit: wonderful seasonal heating though - just saying.

Yeah, I did folding@home for years. Finally got tired of the electric bills, even after knocking of a couple off machines. Too bad I didn't mine Bitcoin/Ethereum instead - I would probably be able to retire in a couple of years :(

I used to do UD (United Devices) way back in the day. Then the project ended. Wonder what ever came from it.

I try to bury my painful memories. It's per-meow, meow-fectly healthy. Trust me.

I'm going to assume you're joking, but for any *other* folks that might be interested - [bows head] United Devices

What sort of evil computer dies on New year's xmas eve? Not mine. POS video card. Not really a problem but I'm, shall we say, "tucked in" for the night.
